Where can I get a Baby Jogger City Mini?

I have decided I'm going to get one of these, seems to be the 'perfect' buggy for us and after putting up with a really crap M&P stroller for ages I am desperate to get it now. But I can't find anywhere selling it online.

I have seen it on a few websites and you have to call to get the price and order, did this with one who promised to phone back and never did and after the treads about bambino direct I don't know who to trust! Argos don't seem to have them anymore and none of the websites I known have them. So, where can I buy one?! Looked on ebay and they don't have it in black, dp is worried about buying it from there though.

Is it just unavailable in the uk or am I missed something obvious? Where did you get yours?

Cheers

John Lewis online but they only have red/black. Saw it yesterday in the store and thought it looked very nice.

bigbang · 20/03/2009 10:07

I swear I have checked their website several times and never seen it there! I must be going mad, or they only added it recently? Will go there on sat see what I think of the red bits, thank you. It is more expensive that I thought though, I'm sure it was only £179 somewhere else, and the place I called had it for £159 delivered... Hmm this is a tough pushchair to pin down.

I think they only added it recently. Def there today though. I was talking to a pram shop owner the other day and he said the price has jumped massively in the last month or two. The last ones he had in were £149 and now he's only ordering on request because they are now £185. Don't know if Baby Jogger maybe have updated the colours or added new features or something. The John Lewis one also has a cream colour on the hood and I haven't seen that anywhere else. I believe these people are the UK distributors. They might be able to help.

ummadam · 20/03/2009 11:17

It's worth looking in ebay.

baby.shop.ebay.co.uk/items/?_nkw=baby+jogger+city+mini&_sacat=66698&_fromfsb=&_trksi d=p3286.m270.l1313&odkw=baby+jogger+city&osacat=66698

there are a few there at the moment. I got mine a while ago but got it for £120 inc raincover and postage brand new so worth keeping an eye out. They really are fab.

tutu100 · 21/03/2009 08:40

They were back on the argos website for £95 but might only be store specific i'l try and find the link.

tutu100 · 21/03/2009 08:42

they are £65 but none in store near me so I guess very few left www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3754889/c_1/1|category_root|Nursery|12109130/c_2/2|cat_121 09130|Clearance+Nursery|12745822.htm

bigbang · 21/03/2009 16:54

They don't have any in the argos near me, my dad, mum or in laws, but thank you for finding it- again I am sure I searched there!

I went to see it in JL and loved it, fantastic pushchair. Even dp thought it was great and he is a tough man to please, he was very excited about the folding bit and made me do it about 10 times in a row

Anyway loved it so much I put in an order. Feel a bit annoyed about paying more but tbh I like it and its worth it as I know its arriving on weds morning or I can kick up a fuss and be treated with proper customer service.

Only slight concern is the label saying 'do not hang bags from the handle bars' on the pushchair, I put the changing bag on as I was messing around with it and it seemed fine so I may ignore that bit. We shall see anyway, thanks for your help everyone

I saw this today in John Lewis and it looked really good. I'd be interested to know how you get on with it.

Jojay · 23/03/2009 11:37

For the record, I've just got one of these ( feel very lucky as I got it from Argos for £65!!!) and it is FANTASTIC!

Lightweight, manoevreable, feels sturdy enough for rough ground yet light enough around town adn in/out of car. Huge hood, good basket, takes buggy board.

LOVE IT!!!

SweetApril · 23/03/2009 12:17

Tutu100, just want to say thank you so much for the link! I really wanted a Baby Jogger but couldn't justify spending nearly £200 but I managed to get one of the Argos ones for £65.

stickybeaker · 23/03/2009 18:54

I can't find an argos that stocks one, and now I'm prepared to travel.

Any ideas?

I'm near Guildford.

Jojay · 23/03/2009 19:42

Why don't you ring Argos Head Office - they could probably tell you which stores still have them?

bran · 23/03/2009 19:52

I bought one from Kiddicare about 3 weeks ago for £150-ish, but they don't have any in stock now. They are obviously moving quite quickly.

I hang things from the handle bigbang and it seems absolutely fine. I suspect they just say that so that you can't sue them if you put something stupidly heavy on so that it tips over. I have some swivel s-hooks like this that work really well for hanging bags from. I bought them from a UK website years ago, but I can't remember the name of it now.

stickybeaker · 24/03/2009 18:31

I could ring Argos head office but I fear I'll be kept on hold and made to press lots of buttons before being transferred to someone who thinks I'm asking for a jogging suit (eugh).

bigbang · 25/03/2009 10:04

Well it arrived this morning and my god I love it. I do not get excited about these things, in fact I didn't even buy a pushchair when ds was small and used a sling but this one is brilliant.

Best bits for me are the canopy, it comes right down, so will block out sun properly and will help ds sleep, won't have to put a blanket over the top to keep it dark for him. I love the vent at the back as he gets sweaty when he sleeps. The break is great, small tab the is easily flicked on and off, I can do it in bare feet which means I can where flip flops this summer. The seat is very deep and you can access the shopping basket when seat is lying flat.

Now its in my living room it seems longer than I remember though. Need to get a raincover from somewhere too! Am going into central London today so will see how it fares on tube/buses.

Good to know that you can hang things on the back. I just have to find a bag that will fit two sets on cloth nappies now. Unless by some miracle ds potty trains by september! Also very pleased to hear it takes a buggy board.

You lucky thing sweetapril!

I just bought a raincover from here and it's pretty quick delivery.

I've only had mine for a week so far, but I still love it. My only two (minor) gripes are that the under-seat basket could be a bit bigger and if you put anything small and heavy-ish (like a bottle of hair detangler) in the net at the back of the seat it tends to fall out when you fold it. Other than that, it's fab. Most importantly, it doesn't give me backache, I can take long strides without kicking the back axle and it steers like a dream.

SweetApril · 25/03/2009 14:40

I know, bigbang - I can't believe it! Let me know how you get on in central London as I am doing the same tomorrow (unless it rains as I haven't got the raincover yet!)

bigbang · 25/03/2009 20:33

I have just realised I have put where instead of wear, how

It was great today, gets on the bus no problems. It isn't exactly 'mini' and takes up a bit of room but you could just about fit another buggy on there. It was also great on the tube going up and down escalators (I got the bus in and tube out just to test it!).

It was raining when we got off the bus but ds didn't get wet as the hood comes down so low. It was hard to carry a bag of shopping round though as no individual handles to hang it off. I carried the bag and pushed with one hand and it worked out fine but it was quite annoying tbh. Will have to find a solution, those buggy clip things I think bran.

OP posts:
bran · 25/03/2009 20:42

There is another type of buggy clip that is reasonably easy to find. They are a bit more fiddly to use as you have to have two-handled plastic bags and put one handle on either side of the clip or it won't balance, but they're better than nothing if you can't find the s-hooks.

There is also this type, but I don't know how well they work as I've never seen them in action.

SweetApril · 25/03/2009 21:23

I've got clips very similar to the red ones that Bran linked to which I use on a diff buggy. They are excellent, especially because they swivel. The ones I got look a bit more substantial tbh but they were more expensive. Can't find a link for them though. Sorry.
Good to hear you managed without a raincover, Bigbang. Maybe I'll chance it then.

shivster1980 · 28/03/2009 11:32

Has anyone suggested babyworld.co.uk? I bought mine from there but embarrassingly can't remember the price .

Love it - fab buggy!

ljw30 · 23/05/2009 22:19

Hi, just bought my city mini and want to have a buggy board with it, but does anyone know what type of buggy board to use? I do not really want to pay out too much and Kiddicare have an Obaby one for £29.99. Anyone tried this one out? Thanks.
