What's the best IT product to install to protect my DDs from unsuitable stuff on the internet. Bit worried!

Got in from work yesterday, mother in law had been looking after my twin DD's who are 8. She asked for a quiet word and said that DD2 had been talking about seeing Troy and Gabriella 'sexing up' on a Youtube video that she had been looking at recently. I've just been checking the history on this laptop and there are several videos of Gabriella topless flouncing about, nothing too graphic thankfully. But it has made me think we need to put some sort of block on the internet to stop them accessing unsuitable stuff. Any ideas?

Also, mother in law asked me not to tell DD2 that she had told me as she didn't think she would trust her again, so how can I broach this?
