has any one got a really good but much cheaper alternative?
The thought of forking out another £100 is not appealing to me right now. There must be other good irons out there that don't cost a bomb?
Perhaps there is something much better????(hopeful)

What about these wet/dry straighteners any good?
Thanks

I have these, although bought them from Amazon, who don't seem to be listing them now.

They're said to be as good as GHDs, but I haven't used GHDs so don't know.

GHDs do have an excellent reputation for repairing straighteners though - so if you can bear to be without them for a while, how about sending them back for repair? Or do you think they're beyond repair?

Check out Babyliss Pro230.

Get reviews to rival GHD

approx £35-40

Only downside is that the power switch is in a bd place and can be switched in use. Personally I use them upside down and don't have a problem. And they heat up reallyfast anyway if they do switch off.

How old are the broken ones? The new ones are way better than the OLD ones, apparently...

have a look at lookfantastic - all that stuff for £99, & the heatmat/carrying pouch is excellent!

That was the mini-styler; you can also get the regular ones with a mat/pouch for £95.99 here

smurfgirl · 15/03/2009 23:03

I did the same to mine and my DH glued them back together and they work fine, as long as the wires are intact they should work fine.

kittywise · 16/03/2009 06:36

The wires are intact but they are broken right on the stress point, dp is brilliant at fixing things and even he thinks they've had it

thanks for the ideas I shall investigate today!
