Recommendations for a bed rail for a single bed frame (not a duvan set)?

We have bought a shaker style single bed for my daughter which is effectively a bed frame. When we went to use the Tomy bed rail it does n't seem possible to use this as it needs to fit between the mattress and a duvan (i.e. it is no good for bed frames). Does anyone use this bed rail with a bed frame? If so how? If not please can they let me know what kind of rail they use with a bed frame bed? Thanks very much.

Not used the Tomy
We have a babydan from John Lewis and it fits fine on a slatted bed base

I have used a bed guard (not tomy) on a wooden slatted base and just used cable ties to make sure it didn't slip off the slats.
