....battered, warped, smooth, much painted old children's chairs of the sort you only see in community centres and scout huts. There must be a website selling them, yes? Perhaps advertising in the Guardian supplements?

No,they are best picked up at Boot sales and junk shops. I love battered old things too. I bought a couple at an auction in Norfolk.

Oh they are gorgeous, I think. I particularly love the rubed areas where different colours of paint can be seen through. I would love a whole wall of them

I bought a small battered one at a jumble sale for 20p its now used as ds3s bedside table - id always wanted one too-this one came from an old school and none of the legs are cut to form its all 'rickety' looking but so strong and well made - imagine all the little ones that have sat on it.
