I just got my bedside cot from mothercare and am hugely disappointed...

When the side is underneath the bed it doesnt fit flush with the bed (completely normal bed nothing fancy), leaving a 1 1/2 inch ish gap...very safe NOT. It also seems decidedly flimsy...

To add insult to injury the damn thing with foam mattress cost me an over inflated £400 as I live in Saudi and so mothercare consider themselves to be a premium brand!

Is this the way the cot is in general (it was a bit wobbly in shop but they said it it was due to wear, or has it been buit wrong or is faulty?

£400

I had a bedside cot from them (but this is 6 years ago) Twas crap, but the dc's were rubbish sleepers so never slept in it anyway so the gap wasn't a problem and I was too sleep deprived to be arsed to return it

Sorry that isn't very helpful I know !

Sounds a bit odd. We have the cot. It is sturdy. We do have a gap, but for us it is because our bedframe is about 1.25" thick, and the mattress sits inside that frame. What we do is pull the cot mattress onto the frame of the bed, and put something along the other side of the mattress.

sagacious I know...i'm sick over the over inflated prices here. I'm probably an idiot for paying it, but i dont trust the local brands esp for new bub.

I hope to God dd sleeps in it...ds was a rubbish sleeper and never slept is his crib, rarely his cot bed (destroyed whilst shipping from uk to here)...i'm hoping against hope that bed side cot will let dd sleep as open...saying that the little minx had shuffled her way to me in the night...trouble!

lou thanks for the tip...stuck a rolled ks sheet along the length or mattress...worked a treat!

UmSami - just go with it! DD2 shuffled up right next to me for ages. Now she sleeps happily in it as a cot with the side up.

Thanks lou, very reassuring. DS at 3 still doesnt sleep without a huge fuss, don't want a repeat...saying that dd is already easier to put to sleep than he is lol
