Kid's 100% cotton bed linen

I've spend HOURS on the net searching for 100% cotton bed linen for my boy's first 'big bed' - i.e. standard single. None of the major stores - Next, John Lewis, M&S - seem to be selling them; it's all a polyester mix which I'm not interested in. Mothercare has one dull design. I have found one online store which offers more but the stuff they are selling - even though lovely - it's so pricey! Do I really have to spend over £40 on 100% cotton bedding for my kid?... Help!

TK Maxx amazing for quality single covers if you don't mind classic rather than actual kids bedding.

laura ashley - poly mix is far easier to deal with though!!

IKEA do lots of bright colours and prints in pure cotton if that is what you are after-they do a great cotton sateen in vivid colours.Or the white company for special things with embroidery or applique.La redoute and Vertbaudet also have a big selection and its pretty cheap.

Ds has one from The White Co sale. It's really nice but still quite pricey even in the sale. I also got one in the JL sale for him which was £20. He's had both for about 3 years and they're as nice now as they were when I bought them. When ds moved into his cot-bed I used sheets and blankets instead of a duvet.

I love this site

Or how about this?

AniaAnia · 04/03/2009 21:37

Thanks for all suggestions. My boy is still little and excited about trucks, diggers, emergency cars etc so would love to get him something of that kind. Three days ago I actually found a lovely set at a reasonable price £23 link here and even though I bought it, only to find out today that the interenet transaction hasn't gone through and in the meantime the price rocketed to £41! So I'm gutted, as it was to be his b'day present.

Anyway, just had a look at Verbaudet and can see a great alternative link here. I'm just surprised it's only a duvet - no pillow cases... In fact they don't seem to have any sets. The search continues...

won't they honour the cheaper price - many internet sites will - worth a try?

stressed2007 · 04/03/2009 21:44

the pillowcase to match is here!

and depending on what vouchers you can use - Vertbaudet sell it too - so may be more economical to order from one or the other company

Gosh, looking at The White Co prices www.andyslinens.com's cotton sets look like a bargin

I do appreciate all feedback and looking at all suggestions (some are not actually 100% cotton). It seems to me that it isn't in fact that easy to find nice cotton themed bedding for a boy - unless one is prepared to pay a premium. How naive of me to think that this would be something basic and easy to find, just like nice pure cotton bedding for adults...

How about this for £17.50, although delivery is £4.95

AniaAnia · 04/03/2009 22:04

Stressed - that's brilliant. If my 'negotiations' with andyslinens don't work out I think I'll go with the Vertbaudet set. Thanks so much for your suggestion. I've never used this store actually, usually shopping for kids clothes at H&M. I also haven't heard of cross-company vouchers. I'll try to find more info on those on their site. Tnx.

Groovy that's lovely and at a great price. And unisex which might be useful as a daughter is on her way! (Am I allowed to say that? Somebody told me off once on a public forum for revealing the sex pre-partum...)

Keep them coming...
