I have had a look at Percy Parker and Tables Disco CD.
Has anyone got these? Could give me some feedback?
I can hear the Percy one and think it sounds good but I can't compare it....

Oh and it is for me to have in the car ...though obviously the children will use it when they are older....

TIA....

Are they set to music?

AnUnusuallyBigAdventure · 04/03/2009 19:26

Can you pre-listen somewhere like amazon/itunes?

VanillaPumpkin · 04/03/2009 19:27

Yes set to music. I tune out if just repeating them as the numbers all jumble for me....
I got a B at GCSE but cannot get my tables to stick. I am working with a year 5/6 class at the moment who mostly know their tables and I am starting my PGCE in September. I have to get them in my head!!!

We like Percy Parker. My 3 and 5 year old love it, but I'm not sure they have learned anything from it. My 10 year old is not impressed, but then not a lot impresses him.

I find Percy Parker has the good tunes on the easy table, and the not so good tunes on the 2, 7, 8, 9 and 12's...which is a bit silly.

The 2X sone is my favourite. I now know my 2x table really well!

Lol Lynette! My dd's are 5 and 3 too so not too worried about them yet. It is my 7x and 8x.
I want to be one of those people who can divide numbers without resorting to fingers and bits of paper ...

write your own tunes if you don't like the ones on the cd.

I always did that to remember lists for exam revision.

Out of all the annoying xtables CDs I've heard, I would say Percy Parker is the best.

Thank you

I wish I was clever enough or had the time to make up my own songs....

you may find youself singing "wave your hands in the air with Percy, wave your hands in the air" or "2 times 2 is; 4 arms. 3 times 2 is; 6 arms.....wave your hands in the air....."

VanillaPumpkin · 05/03/2009 18:32

Lol, I have taken my chances and ordered it.
I seem to be humming daft Jo Jingles songs a lot of the time as it is. Not sure anyone would notice the difference .

My 7 year old thinks Percy Parker is very funny and learned all his tables from it in about 2 weeks (to be fair, he knew the easy ones like 2, 3, 5 and 10 already). My 10 year old thinks it is cheesy but still likes the one about the cats with 9 lives. My favourite is the 4 times: "But Roger knew his 4 times table....."

Just wondering before I make a purchase, do the songs just set the times tables to music in order or do they sing them out of order too? Or do they sing them in some way that would help you remember them out of order?

My son is great at his times tables, when he recites them order as he's quick to add up but not so snappy when they are out of order. I was wondering if Percy Parker would help with this?
