Blackout curtains or blinds?

My landlord has offered to fit curtains or blinds if I get them and I want blackout ones for DDs room. Which are better? And does anyone know of somewhere good to get them from? TIA.

Curtains warmer in winter - we inherited blackout blinds, and it means opening dd's window is a bugger.

you will always get light bleed with blackout blinds unless they run in tracks down the sides of the window so blackout blinds are your best option - just make sure they are full enough and have enough fabric to overlap in the middle properly and large enough returns at the sides.

If you want to buy off the peg I think John Lewis do them

I have blackout linings in all of the bedroom curtains - make sure you have a nice long track either side and a good height above and below the window. I bought linings from Rosebys that just hook in

Thanks for the responses, didn't realise John Lweis and Mothercare did them, will check them out and Dunhelm mill. I am still unsyre about which to go for. Curtains may come in beter patterns I thought? Hmm will have a look. Also need to measure and get curtain poles if I'm going with them or blind fittings.
