Children's Table and Chairs - Any Recommendations?

I am mulling over getting DD (17 mo) a toddler-sized table and chairs.

Do I just go for the cheap and basic Ikea option, or have you found that the added storage/blackboard bit/extra drawers etc. are invaluable?

I realise that it will get scribbled on, so cheap and study is the aim...

TIA

I have just bought this.

It's still in the box but will feedback once I get a chance to build it and DD has scribbled on it tried it out.

I have two of the ikea ones, and they are great. You could varnish it or put an oilcloth over it to help keep it in reasonable condition. When she was little I preferred to keep crayons etc out of the way in case she got artistic on the walls, but now shes older (6) I got the small trofast system to keep paper and pens etc in and have it close to the table.

Thanks - I am leaning towards a cheap and cheerful Ikea one so it can be happily trashed, but await your feedback BW (I had already looked at that one online)...

ikea Svala
Argos do bench and round which I like the look of, but personally I would just get the £20 ikea one.

ikea one is brilliant
nice and plain and can be used as occassional table
lasts for yrs

you can paint the Ikea one however you like - paint the top with with blackboard paint for example, or a washable paint if you're planning on her eating at the table.

The one we bought for DS1 is still going strong. He turns 10 tomorrow [gulp]

We also have the Svala for our two - really works well and does the job. The chairs have really taken a knock and are still usable ...
