mid sleepers/cabin beds - safety

hello,

I want to get my daughter a new bed - she is 4 and still in her cot bed (as a bed obviously). I am quite keen on getting her a cabin bed for the storage but am unsure about safety. Different websites seem to say different things - some 3 plus, some 4 plus. She never falls out of bed but I wondered if anybody else had experience/knowledge.

I have my 4 year old in a high sleeper (out of necessity due to new baby on way and space)
She has been in it about 2 months with no probs, but is very agile. I think they are unlikely to fall out when asleep as they have side rails on more likely when they are playing. A friend of mine bought a bed tent from ikea to put on hers.

my ds has been in his since he was about 3 ... I think it would be very difficult to fall out of one in the night as they are penned in on all sides!

ANybody else? I'm still not convinced. husband thinks i am over cautious (I am I know) but somebody did tell me a story about a child falling out of bunk and being fatally injured...

I think it is probably totally safe but I am too much of a wuss and will just end up worrying about it so won't get it

I've had my son in a mid-sleeper since he was 4 and he's been fine. We have the one with the slide which is quite good. My other son regularly 'plays' on it too and he's just turned 3. I think your daughter will be fine, the sides are all quite high on them.

Thanks for all the advice.

Am thinking of getting her this (tasteless but fun) item

www.1st4beds.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?&mode=normal&productid=850&sizeid=2&sizename=si ngle

Don't know how to do links - that may not work . it is a Julian Bowen Stelvio - has anybody got one/know if they are good quality and can the slide come off.

I wnat one that is actually white not whitewashed pine where you can see the grain/knots

Ds has had his since he was 3yr 9months. He's never fallen out of it. Could you put a bed guard on to put your mind at ease?
