Pebbles, am not a Scot, just married one - DH says I'm 9 inches Scottish

FlyMeToDunoon · 27/02/2009 22:57

Which 9 inches?

I assume he means my foot, can't mean anything else

pebbles79 · 27/02/2009 23:05

Well being up here does have it's advantages, the Glasgow Pram Centre for one, lol!

BexieID · 28/02/2009 06:38

I'm not Scottish either, neither is DP. He moved up here when he was 7 as his dad was in the Navy. I moved up here as we decided it was cheaper to live and buy a house here as very expensive where i'm from. Not that we've bought a house yet. I've been in Scotland 3 years in July. Has gone quick.

I've walked past the Glasgow pram centre when we've been to the Barras. Not actually been in it though. I think it must have been before I had Tom since we last went up that way, or they don't open on a sunday. Still not been to the big Mothercare or Toys R Us here yet! I usually save that for when I visit my mum.

BexieID · 28/02/2009 06:42

lol pebbles. I went shopping in Clydebank on thursday! I'm in Dumbarton so 8 miles from you. If you were out shopping, you would have seen a slightly harrased woman chasing an almost 3 year old boy in the shopping centre, Primark and Asda (SIL , not me ).

nicolamumof3 · 28/02/2009 07:44

morning everywhere!

my cheque cleared today for p&t but having wobbles spending £400 on another pushchair i don't really need when i have a wedding to pay for!

Disenchanted3 · 28/02/2009 10:07

£400 on what Nicola? a MB?

Im pissed off with buggies, have buggered my money up completely and DHs online banking is saying hes overdrawn when he should have £££ in there!!

Have loan to pay monday.

Times like these when I think Im nutty for getting so excited over buggies and spending so much

pebbles79 · 28/02/2009 10:12

Bexie my dad and my best friend both stay in Dumbarton. I don't tend to travel to Glasgow often either, there's everything I need in the Clydebank Shopping Centre.

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/02/2009 10:12

I know that feeling Dis.

Morning all. Part of me would love to be back in Scotland. My mum, brother, sister and two of my dearest friends are there but DP is deeply English and attached to his family and his work is very London based.

just to say bye guys am off to aviemore for the weekend with dh and only one child

nicolamumof3 · 28/02/2009 10:18

oh lovely krissy have a fab time!!

dis i totally know what you are saying, its so easy get sucked in to all this pram stuff. its not really necessary at all. im thinking of leaving pram boards for a time as its ridiculous terry not working full time we have a wedding to pay for i think its selfish of me to spend more money on another pushchair thats not needed.

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/02/2009 10:24

Try second hand Nicola. That way you can try and not feel so bad.
Pram boards are the most friendly thats why I am around. I have managed to be quite firm with myself for a while and not bought another pushchair. It is very hard though.
I am not good with money anyway and would be overdrawn on something whatever I did.

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/02/2009 10:25

Have a great time in Aviemore!

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 28/02/2009 10:28

no self control that my problem! and if i sell a pram i automatically have it in my head its 'pram money' 'my money' i think thats a bit selfish of me.

pebbles79 · 28/02/2009 10:28

I'm terrible, the minute I get a bit of money I wonder what pram or pram thing I can spend it on! But then again, I don't tend to buy anything else for myself, mainly spend on DH and the DC so it's my hobby and it'll be a short lived one. My DH loves his computer consoles and always has to have the latest games so that's a hobby I'll need to put up with for a long time!

nicolamumof3 · 28/02/2009 10:32

my dh doesn't have any hobbies! bless him. i don't really go out much or buy myself anything so all my money goes on the children really (inc.prams!)

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/02/2009 10:33

I don't buy much for myself either but I do fritter money away. I just bought two books for DD1 on the net, a liner for the MB from a MNer and a kitchen towel holder from ebay.
Must remind myself that actually my budget does not have room for any extras.

Might come over to Lidl and get some biscuits and chocolate today or tomorrow!

pebbles79 · 28/02/2009 10:36

I only really tend to spend money that I make on ebay. I hate having no money in the paypal account, even if I'm not intending on buying anything, lol! I just like something in there just incase lol!

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/02/2009 10:38

Right we are off to the garden centre.... to spend DP's money!
