Do you live anywhere near Farnborough? I've just replaced my 26" CRT and need to get rid of it!

PMSL Benny!

I know they're expensive. I bought mine from a place called HyperFi in Essex/Ilford... oh some such place. Got a Grade A return (ie the box was damaged and the customer sent it back) for 1/3 of the retail price. It's a lovely tv. Biggest I've ever had but small compared to so many friends' tvs lol!

BecauseImWorthIt · 18/02/2009 12:13

Do you mean to tell me that you've been watching all those lovely telly progs for your job and not getting the benefit of HD?! David Tennant in HD .....

If it's your job, can't you get financial help/a telly provided? When I worked in advertising, they used to pay the rental (yep, it was a long time ago!) on my colour TV so that I could watch the ads. (yeah right!)

AitchTwoOh · 18/02/2009 12:13

i need to find out where my nearest bashed and dented is, i think.

Well I've never had a problem with my tv (except that it has built in Freeview that I've never taken the time to learn about as we have a Sky box)

BecauseImWorthIt · 18/02/2009 12:15

And if you buy a smaller screen one, they're not that expensive. We have a 26inch Samsung, and I think it was £499 - probably easy to get them much cheaper now. And you have to be careful because if you have a screen much bigger, if you're not sitting a fair distance away, the picture will be all pixellated. Everyone seems to think that you will want a mahoosive screen, whereas it's not always beneficial.

BecauseImWorthIt · 18/02/2009 12:16

this is what we've got - now £349.99

smallone · 18/02/2009 12:19

Def worth looking out for a second hand crt, if you're not going to get an HD package, you'll never get as good a picture on lcd, or plasma.

Lots are upgrading and getting rid of perfectly good tellies, so worth trawling the ad pages I reckon

AitchTwoOh · 18/02/2009 12:20

we've got a mahooosive front room and a 32 incher at the mo. i think we'd need a 37 to take up the same kinda space.

plasma or lcd, what's the diff?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 18/02/2009 12:21

interesting, smallone. is the freeview upgrading to HD?

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 18/02/2009 12:23

Have a read of this:

babypowder · 18/02/2009 12:30

Where in Jockoland are you Aitch? I too have a Phillips 26" CRT to get rid of. I'm on the East Coast.

babypowder · 18/02/2009 12:31

Actually, forget that, just saw your post about your current TV!

Tinker · 18/02/2009 12:35

How do you measure a telly these days? It used to be diagonally.

AitchTwoOh · 18/02/2009 12:45

has it changed?

OP posts:
Tinker · 18/02/2009 12:48

Don't know! tv stuff is so boring, I dread our (very old - 20 years??- one) breaking
