FiveGoMadInDorset · 17/02/2009 20:44

Ny cousins have one and hate it.

AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 20:45

mine

MmeLindt · 17/02/2009 20:47

Depends how often you use your dishwasher. Ours is on every day so it would be a waste.

RiaParkinson · 17/02/2009 20:48

most are this make

ahh ok, i see now.

i don't ahve one, but the one i do have has various diff settings and can be set to do a half load, so essentially does the same job as far as I can tell.

AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 21:07

well... i dunno. i put one drawer on once a day, then the dishes sit there until they go back dirty into the other one, iykwim? so that's why i love it, i rarely have to empty the dishwasher.

i think if i was emptying both drawers twice a day it'd be much like having a normal dishwasher, wouldn't it? although it is easier to empty...

i don't know. i find it washes dishes well but like so many modern dishwashers it doesn't dry them as much as the old ones. again, that's good for me, uses less leccy and i'm not bothered about having baked crockery.

thisisyesterday · 17/02/2009 21:09

ahh now I do like the idea of not having to empty it!!!

RiaParkinson · 17/02/2009 21:11

i see

i quite like the idea of washing bits....bottom drawer could be on whilst top is being emptied

AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 21:17

yes, that's the ticket. we have a small kitchen so it keeps things clean(ish).

RiaParkinson · 17/02/2009 21:19

and you have found that make to be good Aitch?

OP posts:
IlanaK · 17/02/2009 21:23

You could always do what my step mum did - install two dishwashers so that she could just transfer from one to the other!

AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 21:24

well, yes, but i haven't much to compare it to tbh. i think the only other one i've used was an electrolux, so it's not like i've had a stable of mieles.

it cleans our dishes, and it sings the opening bars of 'sit on my face and tell me that you love me' every time i open it. that makes me happy.

thehairybabysmum · 17/02/2009 21:30

I had a single drawer one in my old house..it wa fab. I will buy one agin when we do the kitchen here.

AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 21:32

did the single drawer play a tune when it opened?

RiaParkinson · 17/02/2009 21:38

i wish it did Aitch you have set me up for disappointment now

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 21:46

you'll all be singing it.

thehairybabysmum · 17/02/2009 21:52

it did a little beepy noise, hadnt twigged it was a tune though.

AitchTwoOh · 17/02/2009 21:55

lol, i don't think it was deliberate. but that tune is the first four notes of 'sit on my face'. it took me and dh A While to work out why we kept singing it every time we went into the kitchen.

RiaParkinson · 17/02/2009 23:21

how funny aitch

that could be the tune to their advert!

We've had one for 8 years, it's great. I think the 2 drawers combined hold more than a regular dishwasher, as you can stack double layers at the sides.

Each drawer has a separate engine, so if one breaks you can still use the other drawer. I generally wash 3 drawers a day (am SAHM), one with breakfast and lunch, one with plates, cutlery and glasses and one with pots, pans, and serving dishes.

I think it's also easier to load as you go, as it's only one drawer to open, instead of a door to lower and a tray to pull in and out. Which makes it easy to train other household members to put dirty dishes in dishwasher instead of on bench.

I use a regular dishwasher at kindy/playcentre and hate it.
