did anyone manage to set it up? DH and I tried on sunday and gave up as our hands were too cold. It just wasn't possible to get all the elastic fixings that are around the base to meet. So today our old job man (very strong) is having a go and he is failing miserably too. Any tips please?

TIA

DH set it up - for DD3's birthday. It was stolen from our garden two weeks later. It had been chained to the fence and they used bolt cutters. Probably it was someone who couldn't manage to set their own one up.

No tips though - except I remember it was really difficult!

My sister had loads of trouble setting hers up think her fil ended up doing it .

do most of the bungees then for the last few turn the whole thing upside down and use a hammer handle to help prise the bungee over the loop bit. don't know if that makes sense but it worked for us!

ContainsMildPeril · 17/02/2009 17:06

Simple - You will need two harnessed elephants for the pulling of the elastic and two nimble mice for the fiddly bits.

ruddynorah · 17/02/2009 17:09

have the thing upside down with the bungee cord under the metal rim. one of you loops the cord through the end of the hammer and stretches it over the metal rim using the plastic loop end bit as leverage. the other of you then whips the end over the plastic end.

still makes no sense eh??!

haven't put ours up yet, saving it for the summer for Callum

I don't know if this is the same one that we have BUT we (having done this before) ignored the instructions on the order you are supposed to put it together.

So... we did the bungee rope around the frame BEFORE bolting the frame together, it meant it was much easier to then force the frame legs together (two of us doing it) and bolt them.

Lay the frame out so that it forms a square in the middle with the legs sticking out, then you just bend the legs under when you are ready to bolt them.

Trying to tighten the bungee rope around the frame if the frame is already bolted together is hell.

Next door got one when they were still £50 and as far as I know they had no problems setting it up.

LadyGlencoraPalliser - I can't believe someone stole yours! (well I can believe as someone stole the buggy clips from my buggy recently that were from the £shop ).

We set Ds's up last year and the mood it put DP and the expletives that were used his hands were torn to shreds. You'd think they would make it a bit easier.

mckenzie · 18/02/2009 14:10

well my man is coming back today to finish it hopefully. DH and I had started it on sunday and both got so fed up that we gave up and decided to call in some help.
He did try the hammer tip last night which seemed to help but it was late, his hands were cold etc so he called it a night. Poor DD is couting down the hours until he gets back .

ps. the only reason I have an odd job man is because DH is self employed and always excuses himself from things like this saying he is better earning money doing what he does best and paying someone else (hopefully less money) to do what they do best.

oh dear. "sorry love, it's a two man job" is what he told me this afternoon. So still no trampoline.
