I got some great bargains on their clearance wooden toys yesterday in Reading. Got a wooden taxi + people for £3.78 and a big fire engine with firefighters for £4.99. Worth checking out your local store! Also, just got ds's birthday present sorted out in their online store(months in advance!) Wooden pirate ship, £15.66 reduced from £40: www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndSearch/ProductDetails-WHS+Wooden+Pirate+Ship+Xmas07-32781359.html
Sure not worth £40 but seems good value compared to some wooden toys I've seen.

Thankyou, that's a really good tip! Will have a look in town tomorrow

Have ordered the ship now, it is beautiful. Ds will love it

Thanks again.

Glad your ds will like it too! Mine is really into pirate stories at the moment, hope he still is in June as dh has said he's not allowed it till his birthday

Mine's june too

he'll be two. I might save it another 6 months till Christmas though, as he has tendancy to break things..!

Good plan. My ds is a bit older, he'll be 5 but he has a 2 year old sister who will probably be trying to get hold of it!

We purchased some bits just after Christmas at the cheap price. DD has the petrol garage at her grandparents, and we're saving the airport for her Easter present. Great thing we liked about the garage is most of the sticky up bits are loose, held on by magnets, so less chance of things being broken.

Doesn't stop her chewing it

Thanks for the tip! My mum phoned and just happened to be in WHSmith so I told her. She's bought the red London bus for DD's birthday. I haven't seen it but she says it's lovely and is really chuffed to bits!

I got the pirate ship today, it's absolutely lovely and really big as well!

Only prob is the main mast is missing, so have had to try and order another one - they're having trouble with the ordering system though so am a bit worried they will all have gone.

We can always make another mast I suppose, if desperate!

TaleofTwoCities · 17/02/2009 19:28

They had the airport in Reading and wish I'd got that but there were only so many heavy wooden toys in bulky boxes that could be suspended from the buggy at once! I like the sound of the bus too - they have similar in Habitat, dead expensive. Flightattendant, hope you can get a replacement mast so your pirates get to climb the rigging!! My ship has been despatched - v. excited
