Any "Thomas" experts about?

Is Duke a character from the original "thomas" or is he from the "railroad" film?

An original character! He was the one that was found after many years in a buried shed on Sodor.

We're doing Thomas for the 2nd time with DS2. I find I have a fondness. I'm getting a bit obssessive about the brio/wooden version.

Oh, that story of Duke , gets me every time

We have two wooden chests of it in our loft and I can't wait till DS2 is old enough. DD shows no interest in Thomas at all sadly.

I'm not sure I like the newer characters though.
