want to get ds1 one of the above. he is 2.8. he'd have either but want to know which im likely to get more use of or pros/cons of both? It will be going in his bedroom and i have room for not an overly huge table but big enough...

I think the tables are v expensive, if that's a consideration.

lostinnappies · 11/02/2009 16:30

i would say a train table as it is at a nice "toddler" height

Have you seen these?

table

drawer

I prefer the table because it seems more accessible for them and can be used for other things as well-seems to give quite a bit of storage.

BUT the drawer might last for more years

ok so if he was playing with it a long time, would he get tired sgtanding up all the time? Thats the only thing putting me off the table and push toward the underbed thing..

im sick of tidying up/helping build track day in day out as isnt enough room to leave out on the floor but unsure which to go!

I did see a train table with some brio like trains for £20 in home bargains before christmas.- if I had a choice i think id go for the underbed thing.

claireybrations · 11/02/2009 16:41

At least once he outgrows trains he can use the drawer for storing other stuff, the height of the table could be restrictive once he gets older. Actually my friend's 30 year old brother has an underbed drawer a lot like that with matchbox cars on!

I got a Chad Valley table and track from Woolies before it closed for £40. My son hasn't stopped playing with it since Santa brought it and it fits in his room or our living room. Our toyboxes fit under it so it's nice and tidy too

shame i cant buy from there!

I got ds1 a train table last year and he really loves it and it's kept in his bedroom.
We got it from Smyths, was £100 and comes complete with a 100 piece wooden set, including track, bridges, shops, people, trees, animals and tunnel.Underneath the table are 2 large pull out drawers(on castors) which we have filled up with with his books. Was well worth the money but quite large at about 4ft x 3ft,so not ideal unless you have plenty of room for it.
