Is anyone so bored they want to help me find a nice changing bag?!

It's the last piece of baby stuff I need to buy! (amazing how much online shopping gets done when you're on mat leave!)

I really like the cute oilily ones, but the really nice ones are all in America or about £150! I also like the pink lining bags, but refuse to carry a bag saying 'yummy mummy' on it

I need it to be really big as I already carry loads of crap essentials round with me everywhere I go, and I'm guessing a baby will only add to that?! Would like to spend no more than around £50, though maybe more if it's extra special as I'll be using it every day.

Thanks!

I am sooo glad someone has started a thread on this

After having 2 ds, I have now realised that a chaning bag is actually the way to go.

Used one (that matched the pram) with pfb ds. he was ff fed, and I thought that I actually needed to fill the bag to be a proper mum

Ds2 arrived 2 years after ds1, and was able to back to a normal handbag, because we were bf.

However, ds2 is coming up to potty trianing time, and as we're counting the pennies, I've got 2 lots of snacks, drinks etc with me when we go out.

Have seen this and this

Do rather like the pink lining ones though, and bargain price

lecohen · 11/02/2009 18:08

I have a Petunia Pickle one - brand new...it's fab but really need the money so going to sell it

lecohen · 11/02/2009 18:09

For daily use I use my Skip hop and it's great

Marthasmama · 11/02/2009 18:26

Oh no Snufflebufty! That website is a disaster for me! I'm going to HAVE to get a new hood and seat cover for my Stokke!! Thank you so much for that one! Yay!!!

Lotster · 11/02/2009 18:51

After balking at the £50 pls ones, I finally found this one from Samsonite's new Lady With a Baby range: sophisticated tweedy job
I got the Messenger/shoulder bag in "Olivia" but you might like the larger Holdall next to it. It comes with a matching cover for your child health record book, a padded changing mat and foil lined bottle holder.

I bought it cheaper on Ebay
here

Marthasmama · 11/02/2009 18:54

Lotster - That's lovely! I really like the baby carrier in that range. Very cute.

Lotster · 11/02/2009 19:08

I can't wait to use it! Had a boring black Babyrucks rucksack first time around (albeit very useful) so my husband could use it, but this time I really wanted something feminine!

helips · 11/02/2009 19:12

I have the cath kidson cowboy changing bag for my ds. I love it, use it all the time and always it always gets commented on. I like the fact that it isn't girly and the changing mat is long and padded and it is easy to keep clean.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 11/02/2009 19:50

JuJuBe have some lovely ones! Make sure to get a big one though, you'll probably end up carrying more than you expected.

Cosmogirl · 11/02/2009 20:38

First baby on way and I just bought this babymel one www.babymel.co.uk/product.php?shopprodid=32

was reduced from £44 to £22, so if I don't get on with it, at least I haven't broken the bank. Seems nice though, lots of pockets, wipe clean, changing mat included etc...Long strap so over shoulder, pram or body. I must admit some of the changing bags out there are hideous, and I wanted something that looked more like a big handbag than a suitcase.

Divineintervention · 11/02/2009 21:03

I have had three Oilily daiper bags... gorgeous and paid a small fortune..... I wish I'd discovered eBay then!
That's my advice eBay!

LaundryFairy · 11/02/2009 21:44

After my first changebag died I bought this from Timberland and I love it. It is seriously roomy, looks great (doesn't look like a changebag) and DH is happy to wear it. You'd need to add a change mat and hoik out the laptop holder (unless you need to go online whilst changing nappies), but otherwise it is the business.

becklespeckle · 11/02/2009 23:52

Just found this which is quite funky!

becklespeckle · 11/02/2009 23:57

Oooh and these

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 00:07

I have this which is fine for father / mother use. I only got it because I had a voucher for a maternity shop and got to the end of my pregnancy without having used it! Changing bags were the only other thing the shop stocked, my elder ds chose the design. I would say in general a changing bag is not necessary, I hardly ever bring it, I just shove a nappy/miniwipe pack in my handbag.

VintageChampagneAndGardenias · 12/02/2009 00:11

I do like this but I would use it as a normal handbag too. Obv it's far too expensive actually to buy .

notperfectmum · 12/02/2009 14:29

I was given a Petunia Pickle Bottom bag as a present when DD was born 3 1/2 yrs ago and it is beautiful. It has been used pretty much every day since we received it as DS came along last year. So many comments on how lovely it is. Despite the care instructions, I have washed it in the washing machine, hung it on the line to try and hey presto as good as new. They are expensive (£120) and I probably wouldn't have thought to spend so much if I had bought it for myself however I now think "cost per wear" justifies it. LOVE IT!

firstontheway · 12/02/2009 16:50

Wow I thought this thread was well and truely finished... guess you lot were even more bored than I was

Some great ideas... I love the babymel bag, can't remember who suggested it? And the 'make it yourself' snukie one, but thought they might be quite expensive.

Looks like the search is not yet over...

what about the oioi hobo bags?

Snufflebufty · 12/02/2009 18:09

My snunkie bag cost £30 plus postage which I thought was excellent value for what I got. hth

Snufflebufty · 12/02/2009 18:21

I've (I think) put a couple of photos of my snunkie on my profile. feel free to have a look

firstontheway · 12/02/2009 18:38

Oooo that's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be... and is really cute! Is it big enough to fit all your stuff in?

OP posts:
Snufflebufty · 12/02/2009 22:26

Its massive inside. I was really surprised when I opened it. I'll definately have more than enough room for a good few nappies, wipes, change of clothes, bottles, snacks etc. There are also 2 side pockets and it has a thick lining.
