I see so many of these about but recently met someone who said hers started falling apart shortly after purchase.

Wondering if there are are any P&T owners out there who could give me some feedback?

Oops - sorry for typo....

I have a P&T sport, since last june. I use it every day and so far it's been brilliant.

ilove · 07/02/2009 16:24

I absolutely loved mine, my sister has one and loves hers too.

Got mine before they started selling them in the UK...I rang P&T themselves in NZ and begged them to post me one...they did!

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 16:52

Thanks so much for your messages. I didn't realise that they had different models also.

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 18:36

I guess I would probably be thinking of buying the sport?

EldonAve · 07/02/2009 18:38

I have a sport - still going fine after 2 years

4andnotout · 07/02/2009 18:40

I got a bargain e3 from here a week or so ago and i absolutely love it.

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 19:40

Well this is all sounding very promising so far?

I wonder what model the lady I spoke with used..

I have a sport double and although I love it, the seat unit has ripped where I load the baby in the cocoon in and out. It's only four months old. I called the company I bought it from and they said the distributors will replace it and all I have to do is email a photo of the damage and they'll send a new one out.

I've heard of a few people with similar issues, but they (the distributors) seem very proactive in getting things replaced.

ohdearwhatamess · 07/02/2009 19:45

Best of a bad bunch, imo.

Shoddily built - bits do fall off, fabric frays easily etc.
But great off road (better than a Jane).

ohdearwhatamess · 07/02/2009 19:47

complete PITA to fold and unfold too

ScottishBoris · 07/02/2009 19:49

I've got an e3 double - had it for three years and is still going strong. The basket underneath is starting to fray, but that's probably due to my four year old kicking it to bits for the last year.

I would say don't get the apple green colour (that's what I've got) as it seems to attract insects during summer, but apart from that I love it!

LackaDAISYcal · 07/02/2009 19:54

I think folding is OK, but unfolding is tricky and I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

the frame is a bit scuffed where it sits on the ground and scrapes a bit when unfolding.

Having tested a few different doubles for a magazine review though, it is certainly the best of the bunch for versatility and compactness.

EldonAve · 07/02/2009 20:00

I never fold mine
It is heavy so not ideal for popping in out of car boots

sophus · 07/02/2009 20:04

as been great, was wonderfully warm for a newborn in the winter and now goes over hill and down dale and looks as good as new. not had a moment's grief. Mine is really solidly built and robust.

nicolamumof3 · 07/02/2009 20:34

oooh lucky you lackadaisy!

i've had issues with wheels on mine, but its still been the best double i've had and takes some bashing off terrain. i love it all in all.

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 22:19

I wonder if the older ones are better made than the newer models?

If you have 2 children, then it's a good choice, although it's a bit cumbersome to transport. The flip side though is that you wouldn't want something flimsy for your kids to ride in...

hazeyjane · 07/02/2009 22:31

Bought an e3 of ebay 2 years ago for dd's, I think it had been used for 2 years before we bought it. It is a bit bashed around now, and would recommend to anyone buying one to have a lot of heavyduty velcro for doing repairs!

We use it all the time, and I walk miles with it (I don't drive). I found the bag which you can slot in for newborns brilliant when dd2 was little as I could put her up on the table next to us ( and keep her out of dd1's way!) I have replaced all the tyres with ones prefilled with goo, because I tended to get a lot of punctures.

The only thing I didn't like about the e3 was that dd2 outgrew the bag really quickly (and the end tore from dd1 pulling down on it), so I had to put her in the doubles seat early. There is no zip to make it recline a bit like there is on the newer models, so she was more upright than I would have wanted her.

Washersaurus · 07/02/2009 22:39

I love my sport, which is now 18 months old, it is used every day and I haven't had any problems with it...other than I accidentally bashed one of the quick release buttons off the back wheel axle, as I routinely pull it through my narrow front doorway, but I had a replacement posted out to me within 48 hours!

Actually, looking at it now, I have battered the crap out of it - there is a hole in the bottom of the shopping basket from going over the tree stumps in the pavements around here, and I have scuffed the back seat by pulling it up and down the steps to my front door ....I feel replacement covers may be required at some point

I have a Sport and love it. Like many others have said, it is a bit battered now but certainly one of my best purchases.

It depends on what you want it for really.
Just as a single buggy - there are cheaper and lighter ones out there.
As a double, I would say it is definately the best of a bad bunch. I particularly liked it as my Ds is in Nursery 2 days a week, but I can still use it as a single with my Dd on those days (obviously you'd need another single buggy or have to still push a double around if you had the Nipper.)

The new P&T Vibe is very cool

Woooozle100 · 07/02/2009 23:07

phil and teds is rubbish and pointless to fold - barely any smaller. Tho I think you can fanny about taking wheels off to get it in a boot (we have a berlingo so just stick it in as it is)

Storage is cack - don't put anything of worth in the basket cos it'll prolly fall out

Its good as a pushchair and would recommend based on what is available. I liked it more when it was in newborn mode. Getting a bit of a norse now I've 4 and a half stone of kids to push but that's what you'd expect with anything really. The bottom one getting a bit squashed now but again am using it far longer and beyond what most people would (my near 4 yr old is disabled ysee)

I think nipper 360 was a bit wide for us as we have wall and narrow path to house. I have a cheapo side by side which is narrow and ok for getting in other car boots but a bit er basic and uncomfortable for kids in it.

nannygirl · 07/02/2009 23:17

Depends what and who you want it for. We had a Sport and I hated it. There are far better, lightweight singles out there (Mountain Buggy urban single is good) and as a double it is practically useless.

My main grief was the weight it was to push with two tall children in, and the lack of space. Once you have two toddlers and the raincover in the basket, there is no space for any shopping, and you can't even hang a bag off the handle because it hits the LO on the head.

Panniers are equally rubbish - by the time you have un-velcroed them, packed the shopping, then re-velcroed them on, tried to walk with re-distributed weight and then taken them off again to unpack at home (or risk your toddlers rifling through shopping in hall )... such a faff!

Neither of mine are 'big' children, and even at 1yr and 2yrs we outgrew it. Have resorted to using it as a single, and gone for an emmaljunga double off ebay.

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:19

Thanks for all the really helpful comments. I have a 2.5 yr old and will have a new baby at the end of March.

Need something for walking to shops, nursery and getting on buses mainly.

Will have to put it in DH's car sometimes.
