Am really fed up with my Brabentia bin

Its a touch top one and the lid is so hard to close, I have to stick a knife in the catch to "unjam" it every time I want to shut it. Is there something I can do to sort it or have I got a faulty one?

DD eeps leaving it open and then the dog enpties the bin. DH has threatened to kill the dog now.

I heard they replace the lids if you ask - so they must have loads of complaints

send the lid back

or email them and ask for a replacement

I have one and it is easy to close-yours sounds faulty

How long have you had it? They have long guarantees. Do they have a website so you could contact them for a new lid?

Sari · 05/02/2009 14:58

I've had two replacement lids from them, plus a spare catch for when it goes wrong next time. Give them a call.

KingRolo · 05/02/2009 15:00

We used to have one of those. It was absolutely useless, we had the same problem as you for a year or so then the lid snapped off - just as the guarantee ran out. We bought a normal peddle bin from Argos (at half the price) next and it's still going strong.

Tell DH it's not the dog's fault.

i just got a new lid from them despite my one being about 3 years old. I went to the website and found the new lid and then clicked on the option to request new lid through guarantee. Then had to fill in a form asking what problem was, where I got it from, where the logo was on the product (which I think proves how old it was) and whether I had receipt. They then emailed me a free delivery thing to print out and I had to send the lid back so they could assess the problem (they said!)

In less than a week they had posted new lid.

We've had it maybe 2 years, it used to work fine. Will check out the website to see if I can get a replacement, thanks. Must admit am tempted to get a pedal bin though!

ours did this - turned out that there was something stuck on the catch - gave it a bit of a clean, scraped out gunk with a toothpick and then it worked fine. It is a replacement lid - got from their website FOC when dh dropped the old one - Must say I was V impressed with their service.

PestoBlizzardMonster · 06/02/2009 15:01

If ours gets stuck, we just use a cotton bud to push the catch back into position and

voila!

Problem solved
