i really need advise regarding which pram to buy and thought maybe you ladies might be the right ladies to ask??
i am due in july, dd will be 2.4 when baby is born. she likes to walk but still needs to go in pushchair most of the time. i dont want to go down the route of a double buggy, so was going to do light weight pushchair/pram with sling, so can then alternate the two kiddies between buggy and sling. i have therefore drawn up a list of 'wants' for this pram!
*very light weight
*easy to push/steer one-handed
*suitable from birth, without use for seperate carrycot!
*preferably rear-facing
*folds in one piece, however do not mind having to reverse seat to make it fold, just dont want two bits on the bus!

so far the only ones ive found that match most of these would be a britax vigour 4+/3+ and the bugaboo bee, can anyone recommend either of these or another option??
thank you very much in advance x

lydiathetattooedlady · 11/02/2009 18:04

oh nuts have just realised the britax one is only suitable from birth with a car seat or carrycot!

elmoandella · 11/02/2009 18:06

can you compromise on the light weight or rear facing bit?

lydiathetattooedlady · 11/02/2009 18:06

i am willing to for fit either of those two in a pushcahir but preferably not both!

elmoandella · 11/02/2009 18:08

and it will be used by both the 2.4yo and baby on same trip??

horsemadgal · 11/02/2009 18:09

I'd get a double for sure. 2.4 still very young to walk any distance.

elmoandella · 11/02/2009 18:12

loola up (not any good if older dc is tall or heavy)
jane slalom/powertrack(older dc can hitchhike on front plate)
jane nomad/carrera(has a surfer board option for older dc)
vigour (mnetter pushchair had one and loved it)
maclaren xt/xlr(xlr is car seat compatible and both take buggy board)

MrsMagooo · 11/02/2009 18:22

I would recommend the Mamas & Papas Skate, Carrycot/Seat unit all in one, can be folded as one piece, easy to steer & push, lovely all rounder really.

That said I would still go for a double, DD is 2 years 8 months & DS is 6 months, I have a P&T & use that ALL the time as although DD can walk a little way she won't most of the time!

well, we wont always be out together as dd will start nursery soon and will occasionally be at home with dp on his days off or with me at work and new baby will come with me to work so dont want to get a double for it to be half empty most of the time. i like the look of the pear but my friend has it and its soooooooooooooo heavy!
essentially the pushchair will be used to get us to work and back. on days out i will have dd's pushchair that my dp/mum/sister can push!
does this make sense??

MrsMagooo · 11/02/2009 18:47

The P&T can be also be used as a single

horsemadgal · 11/02/2009 18:53

Def Phil & Ted's.

lydiathetattooedlady · 11/02/2009 19:17

i shall have a look at that one then! would it be suitable to get on and off the bus?
thank you for your help!

FlyMeToDunoon · 11/02/2009 19:53

Lydia P&T not very suitable for the bus.
Don't know if it's changed but Britax website says vigour is suitable from birth. It isn't particularly suitable for bus either though. I did love it [I am pushchair btw]
I found that P&T was best for me with similar age difference but I did not have to get on the bus.
TBH I think if you need to get on off buses you may have to use a maclaren and sling, then later have baby in maclaren and buggy board. If you do then get a decent maclaren like a techno xt

nappyaddict · 11/02/2009 20:08

P&T ok for bus if you wheel it on. That said my friend has one and folds it up for bus. It is lighter than a lot of doubles out there but there are also lighter ones iyswim.

npg1 · 11/02/2009 21:35

Has anyone seen the new Phil and teds smart buggy? So cool I love it, how much do you think it will be?

Mrsmagoo, about your Jane footmuff, have you got that advertised on preloved to? What age does it go up to?

misdee · 11/02/2009 21:35

i picked up this today what do you think?

elmoandella · 11/02/2009 21:40

misdee - is that an abc?or everest? i think thats what i seen it called as. i like the look of those.

npg1 - nest are fab. fit up to 4yo. my ds who is 3 in couple of weeks and is a good size lad has tonnes of room yet.

misdee · 11/02/2009 21:42

its an abc everest. needs a bit of work, and i would like new covers for it. i need sowemthing for ther nursery run as dd3 gets tired. was using a buggyboard but not getting on with it. so am going to give them a go.

elmoandella · 11/02/2009 21:42

oh i cant wait for a review

misdee · 11/02/2009 21:46

will report back with initial first outing views.

am worried about rainy days thyough, dd3 might get a bit wet. will have to invest in some waterproofs i think.
