Anyone know where I could get one, and also whether they work?!!

Argos do them for about £20. My parents have got one for when we come to visit. Only problem is you have to take the whole thing down to get past. Which isn't a problem for us but could be for some. Since DS now 19 months fell down their stairs we think its invaluable and obviously my parents don't want/need a permanent fixture.

Depends what you want it for - we have one of the a collapsable fabric ones for travelling with, but as it doesn't open it's actually worked out easier to have a conventional pressure-fit one for use at the grandparents. Well that's the theory - in practice MIL refuses to have the gate up as she claims that she never takes her eyes off of DS.
