.... I present the £77 toilet roll holder - I'm sure there's something similar in Argos for a fiver

Just had to share. You can go back to what you were doing now.

Homebase £14.99 -OK, not identical but a fraction of the price

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 29/01/2009 19:08

What about the soap pump for £117 !!!!!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 29/01/2009 19:09

You know, what gets me, if you tried really hard (well not that hard actually) you could probably find some poncey place which sells such stuff for even more.

harpomarx · 29/01/2009 19:11

Is Kevin McCloud the one off Grand Designs??

I always had him down as a bit more down-to-earth than that, he always seems to curl his lip slightly at people who spend £1000 on a tap, say.

'mother of pearl embellishment'??? the poncey fucker

paolosgirl · 29/01/2009 19:11

I might have known Kevin McWanker would be involved somewhere

AlistairSim · 29/01/2009 19:13

Come on, it does evoke the feel of water. That's got to be worth something, hasn't it?

Actually, we have some JL vouchers.....

paolosgirl · 29/01/2009 19:14

Definitely one for the I Saw You Coming Shop belonging to Harry Enfield!

catinthehat1 · 29/01/2009 19:15

(Actually there's a combi loo roll holder and bog brush set for £225 in a different range)

I think the product information was the most enjoyable bit - best extracts:

"Designed to evoke the movement and flow of water, this beautiful chrome-plated brass roll holder features a stunning Mother of Pearl embellishment.
Designed by Kevin McCloud in collaboration with Samuel Heath, this range is exclusive to John Lewis.
Every item in this sophisticated range is crafted from fine Northern European brass, then hand-finished and chrome plated."

I mean - fine Northern European brass - are these guys smoking crack?

Harpo - it is indeed he. He has lost many catinthehat points through this insanity.

ah yes, 'fine Northern European brass'... not to be confused with that nasty, inferior Southern European brass.

A brass expert is going to come on now and tell us that, yes, indeed, Northern European brass is renowned for its fineness.
