Dishwasher tablets - what are the best cheap ones?

My last megabox of Finish Max in 1 is about to finish so need to buy some more dishwasher tablets - but they are SO expensive. Can anyone recommend good but cheaper ones?

I cut the Lidl's ones in half and they seem to do the job.

I agree the Lidl ones are excellent and cheap as chips. I was also told to avoid the 762-in-1 types and to use regular powder or tablets, and salt and rinse aid. My dishes come out fine and the dishwasher rarely needs cleaning or descaling (and our water is incredibly hard).

Powder here (Finish), 1 bag lasts months as you only need a couple of teaspoons.

I can only get it in Sainsburys though, tescos dont seem to do it.

snoringnightmare at Miele packing up!! They really are supposed to go on for years, and so they should, at the price.

This thread has made me all anxious about topping up the salt and rinse aid...!

Ok, I know this is going to sound daft, but how do you use powder? where does it go? I've always used the tablets.

ChasingSquirrels · 25/01/2009 22:23

I keep the salt topped up, but what exactly is rinse aid - never used that.

We use the Aldi ones, but this week in Asda they did 57/58 Fairy Ultra tablets for £4!

(Loads of offers in Asda this week, 2 Fairy Liquids for £1, 24 Whiskers sachets £4 etc)

i feel a bit extravagent as I use salt and rinseaid and use one of those tablets too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/01/2009 07:54

The 'Daisy' ones from Tesco are fine imo.

Madmentalbint · 26/01/2009 08:04

CatMandu - the powder goes in the tray where you put the tablet.

I use tablets (went OTT with internet shop when they were on offer a few years back, still using them up!), but live in London with v hard water so need extra salt and rinse aid regularly.

I clean out the filters when adding salt, too.
Bosch running now 7 years with no problem except once the lid of the tablet-holder stopped shutting. Bosch sold us a new lid and catch for a bargain £16!
