Am looking at some Garvalin shoes for DS1(3) as all the startrite and clarks ones I have seen are mostly school shoes (and are horrible looking]. He really wants some red shoes and I found some nice ones online here - I just wondered if anyone could help me decide what size to order - do they come up big/wide etc?

Hi,
I had a Garvalin boot like this in navy for my DD for school all last winter. They really were great, lovely and light, soft leather and hard wearing. She played out doors for about an hour and a half every day, and in the playground, as well as playing on the floor all day also. They lasted for months and months and months.

My DD has a high instep, and a narrow, long foot also, so the velcro was perfect. They would be fine for a wider foot.

I just got a garvalin black patent leather school shoe for her on sale and it is perfect with the velcro strap, and really smart also.
The whole of the inside of the shoe sock is leather so the foot can breathe, and doesn't get all sweaty.

I love garvalin as a brand. HTH

Oh thank you zazen, that is really helpful! I have to admit, I do secretly despise having to buy clarks or startrite shoes, and Garvalin seem to have some lovely shoes - there are even some cute sharkie ones with teeth on the front and eyes on the velcro.

I emailed them to ask about fitting in comparison to clarks etc. They said they couldn't compare as Garvalin are a fashion shoe.
