Our son is 3-5 months old but weighs 20lbs/9.5Kgs, and is in 12-18 mth clothes (!!). He is also fairly long and are looking for a good size travel system or at least a large, open, rear-facing car seat. We hace my sister's graco system for another month and he is almost too big for it!

Any ideas please??
Thanks

Goodness me he sounds HUGE!!!

How much did he weigh at birth? Sorry just being nosey LOL.

TBH I think you'd be better either buying a rear facing pushchair or just putting him forward facing, and get a combi carseat as they are slightly bigger, they start rear facing and then turn to forward facing.

What is your budget like?

A Jane buggy with a Matric car seat? It's a lie flat car seat but also can be used upright like a normal rear facing car seat.

Matrix even!

Matrix car seats weigh a ton without a baby in them neer mind with a heavy one. LOL.

I had my DS in one when he came out of hospital he was just under 7lbs and it was actually hurting my arm a bit.

Jane Nomad pushchair is good though and does up to 4 forward facing only though.

horsemadgal · 13/01/2009 16:23

I'd have thought the Matrix was the only longer one that would go on a buggy though.
I think it's the bulk of it that makes it feel heavier though, rather than the actual weight. I wouldn't carry any car seat very far!!
What's a few pounds when your baby is 20lb anyway

I would forget the travel system idea because he is going to grow out of any carseat for that in a few months at the most so a waste of money I would go for a fixed carseat I have this concord one and have used it from birth for my DS who is 9 months at the end of this month he is wearing size 12-18m clothes all ready and is a big boy but is very comfy in this! Also he can stay rear facing for a lot longer in a seat like this!

go for a britax si seat and a three wheel buggy with loads of room for a bigger kid, a phil and ted's or baby jogger?
