Where can I get a second hand ERGO carrier?

I saw one on an actual person today and realised it's what I've been looking for, but they are so dear new and ebay has about 3 at the moment - just wondering if there was a website that did preloved slings and suchlike, I used to have some links but can't find them now!
Thankyou very much

You could put a wanted ad on here. What sort of price do they go for 2nd hand? I've got one, but I'm not 100% sure if I'm finished with it yet (although DS2 is now 2.5yrs old!)

I ended up buying new as I couldn't find one second hand - guess they are much loved so people don't part with them readily!

If you are likely to have more DCs then it may be worth the investment new? They are really comfy, partic in back carrying position, and my DS sleeps in it really well.

Also, apparently mei tais are similar and similarly loved. They may give you more choice of price as I think there are lots of people who make them. There are also similar carriers to ergos which may be cheaper. I had a thread here about them - some great recommendations on different types of carriers.

There's a Yahoo babywearing group where you can swap things. Ergos seem to hold their value quite well and go for around £60 on ebay. There are usually lots of them on there.

They are expensive new, but if you do splash out, I'm sure you'll recoup a lot of the costs by selling it on afterwards. I sold one on ebay for more than I paid for it!

Miamla · 12/01/2009 18:04

i've just finished making a mei tai. I wore it for the first time today and I love it! My DS is heavy, I've got a dodgy back but it was still really comfy. I definitely recommend them.

I would try the yahoo swap group here or slingmeet.

I think we still want ours for "emergencies".

I've got one to sell - in good condition as it only saw one baby- but it's the original - not sure whether people prefer the new style (new style being 4 years old).

FourArms · 12/01/2009 18:36

Having looked at the prices they fetch 2nd hand , I think I will sell mine!

Like Jute's, mine is the original version. It's the blue denim one. I'll pop a pic of it on my profile.

HelenBurns · 12/01/2009 19:05

Gosh thanks guys

I hadn't realised how popular they were!

I'd be interested in one second hand but can't really afford £60 - I might not have another child and he's already 19mo.

Unless anyone is selling one reeeeally cheap I might try and get lucky on ebay - you never know!

What did you want for yours Jute - or Fourarms?

Thanks for all the ideas and links. I might try and join the yahoo group actually - I have a Loveseat one to sell on as well.

you could also try the f.s.o.t. boards on www.thebabywearer.com

HelenBurns · 12/01/2009 19:14

Thanks Puppy, I can't seem to find the register button to access the boards!

Helen, have you looked at a Patapum? They are very similar to the Ergo but quite a bit cheaper. They are often for sale on ebay too.

HelenBurns · 12/01/2009 19:41

Oh thankyou,
I will check them out. I got the loveseat thinking it would be that kind of thing (had not really seen an ergo) but sadly it's really not very comfy for me. I don't know if there might be subtle differences that would make the difference iyswim.
