Laminator?

BalloonSlayer · 09/01/2009 13:00

I made the mistake of suggesting that DD (7) might enjoy having a laminator, and now she wants to get one with her Birthday money.

Obviously I know use needs to be supervised as it gets hot.

Any recommendations?

There is one at Tesco for £20, and a value one for £10.

But are laminators something to which the saying "You get what you pay for" applies?

Bumping for you.

I ordered one from Argos but didn't take it. Got a laminator and shredder in sainsburys for 20 quid down from 40 and seems fine.

In a word, yes. Plus the wallets are not cheap. can't you get her a sticker maker instead?

Laminators get horribly hot, have a roller that long hair could get snarled in. Not sure if its something a child should operate TBH.

i have the value one from tescos and it seems to do the job perfectly well. all it is is something that gets hot and pulls a plastic/paper/plastic sandwich through it so it melts into one piece. i can't imagine that a 7 year old would need an expensive one

the value laminator pouches are perfectly adequate too £2.97 for 25 a4 ones.

Didn't read OP slowly enough, saw that you would be with her when she uses. But I still think a sticker maker would do the job just as well.

Thanks everyone.

The reason I wondered about it is because she has a sticker maker, and a HSM Friendship card maker and TBH I think they are pretty shite.

Thank you for the warning about the long hair - DD has very long hair. She had a brainless moment last year with one of those hand held fans and I had to cut a chunk out.

I think if I do get one I will have to insist it lives downstairs so she won't be able to try it herself.
