Vsmile? Vsmile touch? Leappad? Leapster? Leapster2? L-Max? FFS, I have no idea, please help...

My nearly 3 yo DS travels a lot so I really want to give him a portable educational electronic game. But which one??

Was thinking to get him the vSmile console for his birthday, so the pocket player ("vsmile touch") seems a logical option for on the go. But the leapster products look great, and might be a good alternative...

leappad

Leapster

vsmile pocket touch

leapster2

leapster Lmax

My dd (aged 4) got a leapster2 for Christmas and it's great. She plays with it a lot - and I quite like it myself . It's compact and the cartridges are tiny. She has the Dora game and I have the Mr. Pencil one on order as it looks quite educational.

She also has a leappad which I wouldn't recommend - lots of bits to it and it's quite big - and she hasn't used it much.

Hope that helps!

hiya, we bought our 4yo ds a leapster l-max for xmas, its really great and i've just ordered one for my 2yo dd, as she has had such fun with it too.
my sister also bought leapsters for her two (4y & 6y) and they have played with them lots since xmas.

oooh this is interesting. Sazm is it Leapster LMax your sister is buying too? Or normal leapster? Seem to be 10 varieties !

there are a few different varieties, i found that out when trying to get one for my dd.
they are mostly the same. the first leapster(triangle shape) is what my sister bought for her boys,i have the l-max which is the one you can connect to the tv,and although i dont think we will use it in that way its good as it has 2 good games built into it.

the games are compatible with all leapsters though so thats handy.i would go for one of the ones with built in games though.

The leapster2 also has 2 games built in as well as being able to add extra ones with cartridges and download others from the internet (haven't tried that yet though!)
