Is Maxi-Cosi a good infant carrier and what buggies does it fit on?

I screwed up and have ended up with a horrible infant car seat (mamas and papas) as it came with my buggy. I hate it as ds2 looks really uncomfortable in it. My cousin has a maxi cosi and loves it, but I'm wary of making another expensive mistake. I normally use a pram so it doesn't matter that it's not compatible with my pushchair. But what are they compatible with just in case I see any bargains!

Ds2 is looking at probably having lots of hospital appointments so I will need a car seat I can carry so might consider getting a new pushchair thats compatible with the maxi cosi as well depending on what happens.

It's always rated top for safety and all round by Which, and I think it's a really wellmade car seat, we've got two for the dt's. AFAIK, works with bugaboo, icandy, quinny, mountain buggy etc. Don't know so much about graco and britax as they do their own car seats like Mamas and Papas. I've had 3 dc's in the maxi cosi and all were v.comfortable, worth it if you're doing a lot of car trips (even better is the isofix version, which pops in and out of the base in the car with a single click!). Some colours are cheaper than others if they're last year's or not as popular on kiddicare, ebay.

John Lewis has one on offer at the moment so thought I'd go for that as I'm not fussed about the colour. Thanks for letting me nkow what it's compatible with. I shall be looking for bargains. We have a zapp which I know it is compatible with so I thought that would do for hospital trips as if I need a lift with anyone my pram won't fit in their boot.

you can get adaptors and use it on the Phil & Ted's too.
maxi cosi is the best car seat i think - babies look comfy in it and in a good position. I had a M&P and gave in and bought the cabriofix as DD was so uncomfortable in the M&P - too upright so she was kind of toppling down in it.
