Best Eames soft pad/aluminium chair copy

Sat on the real thing the other day. Oh my, delicious but like 99.9% of the population, can't run to 2 grand for an office chair.

Could consider up to £500 as work at home full time and want to upgrade to something special from this grotty cloth thing that has remnants of sudocrem abuse from DD1 as a toddler 5 years ago.

Anyone recommend any stylish equivalents?

If you are referring to the Aluminium Group chair, then unless you were sitting in one manufactured in 1958 it would have been a copy. The Vitra version is priced at ~ 1K and is considered to be one of the best of the genre. Can I ask what chair you tried that was priced at 2K?

Hi Saskia, it was a vitra copy. Their website prices them at 2,750 I think.

Have seen this.

eames chair

Didn't buy it as it seemed too good to be true. Mind you seemed a reasonable rip-off but possibly rather flimsy in the wheels department. Also in the shop every single item has a note on it which says "Sold as Seen" which I basically think means, if this collapses into a rusty heap after one week you have no comeback under consumer legislation. At least that is how I interpret it.

Would be very interested in how you get on.
