Car seats to fit a Peugeot 206?

Hi, I am expecting due in April and looking at car seats at the moment - I am amazed by how much info is out there... and confused!!

I was hoping to get a seat that would do from birth to 4 years, and I don't plan on changing my car - Peugeot 206 (2002 model). Having looked about, I found quite a few comments that the 206 is a bit of a pain to get car seats for - something to do with the shape of the rear seat. I used the fitfinder on Britax, and although a couple of seats came up for this model of car - there was an informational note on all the seat positions saying that they would not fit rear facing.

Has anyone else experienced problems with fitting seats into a 206?

I have read a few of the other posts about isofix - perhaps if I check if the car has this or can be fitted this would make it easier to get a seat to fit?

Any advice from anyone would be appreciated as I feel I will be researching car seats forever!!!

My friend has a 206, she had the maxi cosi cabriofix from birth and then moved to next stage.
She was planning on getting another maxi cosi (birth-4yrs) but when she went looking at seats found they wouldnt fit properly. She ended up with mothercare's own as this was only one that would fit (not sure which model)

Please get advise from a properly trained fitter before you buy a car seat. an independant nursery store, halfords, mothercare or toys r us can help you. And dont just go to one go to a few as each stop stocks different makes.

Tell them you want a birth to 4 and they will see what fits your car.

I have a problem with short belts and buckle crunch and only two car seats are suitable for my car.

I am currently using the Britax First class forward facing....but rearward facing it would have been dangerous as my belts were too short.

Invest some time now knowing what will fit your car and then you can look out for some good deals over the coming months....good luck!

We have a 206.

I started with a M&P primo viaggio SIP and base. Soon realised that to remove comfortably was a nightmare - front - not enough room, seat belt not quite long enough,
back seat door opening was not tall enough, seat in front had to be pushed right forward.

Stopped using it for these and other reasons. Now have a Britax first class si, rear facing in the front with airbag immobilised, and forward facing in the back. Best thing we did.

So my advice would be to not get a seat with a clip on base as this seemed to cause most of our problems. x

I have no idea myself, but Cathy at the Essex In Car Road Safety Center will definitely be able to help. She's totally obsessed with car seats and will give you excellent advice.

You can call her on 01268 297593, no need to be living in Essex!

Have just seen your posts and I also have a 206. The Britax first class si would NOT fit rear facing in the back of our car so we returned it. However, we thought that the seat was lovely and have just read LoulouCapones message and re-ordered it!! We have decided to have it rear facing in the front until it can go forward facing in the back!
Thank you so much for your posts!!
(Even persuaded my husband to order the pink one!! Our little girl needs pink!!)

Thanks for the update - will go take a look at the Britax first class si... I had a look at the Britax Black fusion at Toys r Us. I didn't realise until the weekend that I was able to disable the passenger airbag too - so this additional info helps alot. I think I wil give the essex lady a call too - I did notice her details on one of hte other posts... totally forgot about it though...!!

Cheers :-)

dooahh... just realised the SI and black fusion are the same.. thought the black fusion was the model.. not the colour.... omg... those brain cells are dwindling quicker than I thought
