Group 1 car seat and isofix questions

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me, I'm having trouble understanding how the group 1 seats work.

We have 2 cars, the one I'll mostly use with DS is a Citroen C1 and has 2 isofix points, so from what I can gather I'd need a seat with 2 isofix points and either a leg thing onto the floor or a "top tether"?? thing to get the third point of support? Does that sound right?

But sometimes we go away for the weekend and we need to take the other (bigger) car which is a Seat Ibiza and is pre isofix, it doesn't have to isofix points.

So, can I get a seat which I can pretty much use in the C1 with isofix but occaisionally move to the Ibiza and attatch it without isofix? Are all isofix seats also possible to fix in another way?

Please don't tell me I'll need 2 seats?

TIA

Isofix car seats can also be used with just seat belt, so no prob.

You won't necessarily need a third point of support for an isofix seat, though it is commonly required - it depends on your car and your seat.

We have the Britax Duo Plus Isofix, (called Roemer in Europe) which requires no top tether in one of our cars, but does need one in the other. I've just looked up C1 on Euro NCAP and it was the seat the manufacturers chose to use for their child seat crash test and it got four stars, so it's probably a very good choice for your car (it's used in lots of NCAP tests). www.euroncap.com/tests/citroen_c1_2005/218.aspx

Checking the Britax Fitfinder website, it says you do require a top tether - this is no big deal, just makes it a little more fiddly to fit. It's another fifteen quid or so.

You can use the Duo Plus with the seatbelt in a car without isofix points.

The info for the C1 applies to 2005 or later, which I'm assuming yours is since you say you have isofix points.
