Table Top Extenders - do they exist? How am I going to seat everyone at Christmas?

Does anyone know if this product exists? I've googled but not come up with much. I have a small Ikea kitchen table from our old flat. Our new dining room has room for a bigger table but we don't have one yet and don't want to buy as we can't afford a nice new dining table yet.

Can't one buy something that will clip onto my existing table to extend it?

What are other people's solutions for more family round the table at xmas?

My parents used to borrow a table from their church or put a camping table on the end and cover with a cloth to make it one long table.

just a trestle table would do covered with a cloth?

I am using my dining set from outside, have just fetched it in to dry out a bit.

Probably too late for this christmas, but my Dad made a big board from plywood (that hinges in the middle so it can fold for easy storage) that fixes onto their table. And then they just cover it with a big sheet. I'm hoping he might consider making me one, as it is fab! If you know anyone practical, I don't think it took too much effort.

Aha, bingo IllegallyBrunette - We have a smallish garden table that will do the trick admirably. Hurrah. Loving MNetters lateral thinking.
