What do you think about the Leapfrog Leapster 2?

We are thinking about it for our 4 yr DS. Is it better than the V.Smile Cyber Pocket or are there any other similar things you could recommend?

I think any electronic toys like that are a waste of money - lovely books or simple games. There are countless great sites on the web that you can sit along side him with, don't do it!

I do see what you are saying and I agree with you, buuuut he has lots of books and games and we do sit with him at the computer.

TBH I'm struggling to decide what to get him and DS2 (6) for Christmas as it was their birthday on Wednesday. They don't need any toys really. The Leapster would be good for journeys to parents (2 hrs) and they don't have anything like that at all. We are holding off on games consoles such as Wii's etc.

And I'd rather they were playing with something like this on long journeys than sitting watching a DVD like a lot of children I know.

Anyone else?

we bought one for our DS for his 5th birthday last month. Loves it to bits and all the games mean he is learning all the time. We combine it with pen and paper too so if he gets stuck we stop and practice a sum or letters. Great for the car too. You can pick up pretty reasonable at the moment we got a star wars limited edition one with the star wars game for £45 from Argos

Thanks loflo, we did get one for both the boys in the end and they look great! DS2 has the Star Wars one...which cmes with a game and DS3 has the normal one.
