Does anyone have the maxi cosi car seat with the isofix base, and a VW golf?

We've had the maxi cosi cabriofix (group 0) seat and the isofix base delivered, and despite three attempts, on three different days, at fitting the base into my car I still haven't succeeded. I'm failing at step 1

I'm convinced that the isofix points are too narrow to take the isofix guides (the little yellow plastic bits you connect first), and have rung the shop we bought it from for advice - they have assured me this isn't possible.

Does anyone else have a Golf (mine is 5 door, and 4 years old, if this helps) with this seat - and have you managed to fit the base successfully? I don't want to resort to using the seat belt fixings, as we purposely bought the isofix base for ease of fitting! Thanks for your help

Some Isofix fittings are v difficult to access. Try fitting without the yellow guides, sometimes easier, not essential. They are difficult to fit in some cars to begin with. I fitted one to VW Passat today and stuggled to begin with but it did go in.

Take a look at this its a bit better than the instruction booklet.

Take it back to the shop and get them to show you how to fit it. They should be able to properly fit any car seat they sell.

Thanks teaandcake - I wondered if those guides are essential, so will try it without them.

The trouble is the shop we got it from is 20+ miles away, so I'd love to not have to make the trip! They have talked me through it on the phone though and if I have to go back I will. Will try without the guides and hope for better luck!
