Am I going to be ridiculed by my DSs for all eternity if I purchase the wrong kind of cards? Diamond & Pearl? Storm something? Legends... God it's a minefield!

Sorry but you are simply going to have to ask them. Because there is no way you will know without .

there are different starter packs with set cards in them and expansions with random cards. no way to know without asking which starter they want. i used to run a yugioh rpg but it's years ago now, i can't remember half the stuff from then, let alone know what's going on now.

Both have requested a particular thing. However, this would appear to be a card not a set.

I only wanted to get a couple of booster packs as a stocking filler, I didn't realise it would be so complicated!

Good heavens no Not at all. Dont waste your time even trying cos itll all have changed in 6 mnths. Find a website and get them to point to the EXACT ones they want. Tis the only way. Parents are not supposed to understand these things. Well thats my excuse anyway. If they ridicule threaten to embarrass them by being cool and talkign to their friends about porkemon. That'll learn 'em
