Question about cot top changers

We bought a cot with a cot top changer but until now ds has been in his moses basket. When we move him into the cot, is it okay to keep the changer at one end or do you take it off whenever he sleeps in it?

Also - the cot we bought has pieces of fitted plastic along the edges - daft question but are these for teething or are they just part of the packaging? Instructions don't say. It's a Mothercare cot.

Thanks!

I wouldn't leve it on when baby was asleep. I would have visions of it falling off or the baby pulling at it (when bigger, obviously)

Plastic bots along the edges are usually teething bar thingymajigs.

we always take it off for naps and at night. i might plonk him in cot with it on if i am grabbing something, but for long periods in there i would always take it off.
