Hi. I have to buy a laptop this week and am trying desperately to keep the price under £350. Also need 2GB of RAM and preferably built-in webcam. The best I can find is this
It's a bit more money but seems to be quite good. Anyone got one or can recommend any others? Don't really want Dell.

we've got these at school, the kids use them - seem ok.

For personal use at school I have an older toshiba - again its been ok.

At Home I have a HP, and have had various different laptops previously.

TBH they are all of a muchness, i use it to prepare work, powerpoints, internet, email etc. I use an external harddrive - which gives extra memory and allows me to go from laptop to laptop.

Thanks madrose (and puzz for the bump!) This is just for basic stuff - surfing, emailing, very occasional work from home. If you've got them at school they probably get quite heavy use, certainly more than this one would get which is a good sign (I think).

I've recently bought a Toshiba. After less than a month it developed a terminal fault and had to be replaced (with another Toshiba, I haven't given up on it and I do like it).

So, yes I do like my laptop but BACK UP YOUR DATA!!!!!*

*Obv the above advice applies to any make and model and I am An Idiot.

We bought a Toshiba Satellite from John Lewis. Gives you a longer warranty too. Had for about four months with no problems. HTH

Thanks, all! Off to JL tomorrow. Probably be all sold out - voice of Christmas doom and gloom!
