I want to buy one of these! BUT!! Would my toddler fit in the rear toddler seat? she is quite tall. Does anyone fancy measuring their set to see how long the back is?

My 3 yr old can happily fit in the back of our Sport, but it is the leg room that is the problem these days. You should also be aware of the weight distribution when putting the toddler in the back as it will tip back quite easily (we have a big heavy pannier that stops that happening)

Is it for a baby and a toddler or two toddlers?

if a baby and a toddler, the toddler should go up front when the main seat is in bed mode and in the main seat when the baby is old enough to sit up, in which case the baby then goes in the rear seat. If two toddlers, then it depends on how old. My 2.5 yr old is happy enough in the rear seat.

Sorry, nipped off to do tea and bedtime!
DD is 2 in Feb, and will be in the top front seat to start with, and for the majority of the time. I know you're not supposed to put the toddler in the back but i expect there will be times when new baby needs to sleep and DD will want to walk then not walk then walk etc, so i'd like to be able to have her nip in and out the back (while holding tightly so it doesn't tip!) Heavy panniers are a good idea!

BTW I have found that my youngest sleeps better in the reclined seat in the back, as you can't recline the front seat with the toddler in the back as the seat sits on their head!

I alternate my 3yo and 16mo in the seats as required - as the eldest likes to walk/scoot most of the time now.

Do you have a sport or Vibe, or other? Can't decide which to get. It's over £100 more for a vibe which seems a bit excessive. Have you had a newborn in yours?

I have a sport - I have a 2 yr gap between my boys and did use it in the newborn set-up too.

I haven't seen a vibe, they weren't released when I bought my P&T... but wouldn't have been able to afford one anyway

scrambled · 08/12/2008 21:24

Is there anything that you don't like about it?
The vibe is supposed to be lighter and more padded, and has a button to operate the brakes in the middle of the handle (one more thing to break IMO, but DH likes it!) I have also heard there is less room in the back, as it were! Thanks ever so much for your help!

My Sport hasn't ever tipped with the older child in the back.
I find that you can unzip the sides to allow the front seat back enough for napping baby without it impacting too much on the eldest at the back.
Also though never had it tip with only the baby in the back, plus she sleeps just fine in the back too then again I left her underneath in the main seat in baby mode for longer than most, cocoon was grown out of by around 5 months but a cosytoes is just fine under there so it wasn't until 7-8 months that baby was in the back seat anyway.

I love my P&T - its only minor flaws are a lack of padding around the bars; DS1 always complains that he bumps his head on them when trying to doze in the front seat. The brakes are stiff but manageable. I found it hard to handle in the newborn set up with the weight on the top, it did almost tip over when I hit a tree root on a path. And why they didn't put shoulder straps on the pannier bags I just don't know.....

I'd say if you were hoping to use the back seat for your older toddler, you will need the extra leg room in the back (is the vibe much smaller?)

Washersaurus · 08/12/2008 21:35

Mine DID tip up with the toddler in the back just once, when we were going down a hill (DH was pushing though - so that was probably why )

I also just unzip the front seat a little bit, to give DS1 a small recline when napping (and when he complains about bumping his head)

TheOtherMaryPoppinsJingles · 09/12/2008 08:45

Yeah if you are using the back seat for eldest get yourself a good backpack or the pannier bags to cart your things round as you'll have little space for much else other than the (very bulky imo!) raincover otherwise.

brownmia · 09/12/2008 20:08

I have the Vibe - still using it in newborn/toddler mode so sorry can't help with the toddler in the bottom query... Compared both Sport & Vibe side by side before buying - decided on the vibe as it just felt a little lighter and a little less 'utilitarian' IYKWIM... Didn't get the carry cot thingo, just using a sheepskin and a snowsuit thingo to keep her toasty (although an old man in Waitrose the other day thought I had a couple of rabbits kicking about in there!). I reckon the brake in the middle of the handle is a PITA - spent the first few weeks accidently putting them on, and when you are going fast is a bit alarming for the passengers!

Def agree re not much room in the underbasket, the raincover takes up most of the space.

dizzyjingles · 09/12/2008 20:10

my 2yr old was too tall to sit on the seat when above the lie down newborn - head out of the top of the window so feck all use to us

mothercare have them in stock if you can get to there to see

nicolamumof3 · 09/12/2008 20:25

Haven't used my sport for newborn only two toddlers it is THE BEST double i've used and i've had several huge fan, i would buy it again and again. No double is perfect but this is as close as you can get. LOL at the 'utilitarian' comment this purely put me off a p&t for 13 whole months i so wish i'd got one sooner!

my nearly 3yr old still fits in doubles in the back but only when v.tired or weather bad otherwise he walks. i will happily continue with my p&t in single mode tho! Just in case you still wondered...i LOVE it!
