Quadrilla marble run toy - help please!

I bought a Quadrilla set (twist and rail, I think) for ds, but have a problem. I wanted it to go in his bedroom, but his floor is wooden, so not very good for having marbles all over it. Soooo, I bought him a nice table for it to go on, thinking that the marbles would just come to a stop on the table. But they go so fast that they zoom out of the little towers, onto the table, then all over the floor!

Does anyone have any suggestion how I can solve this? I thought about fixing some sort of rim around the table, but then he can't use it for anything else.

Would putting a felt top on it help? (like a dard or pool table)

Ooh yes, but perhaps with an edge too. I've formed in my head an image of a felt base with a stuffed edge - bit like one of those stuffed-crust pizzas! Just need a pattern now!

That would work, you could make velcro tabs and fit sticky backed velcro to the edge (the loop side) of the table. That way he could take it off and roll it up when he wants to use the table for drawing or anything.

Fasten it with ties so it ties underneath or stick the velcro so it fastens underneath or the velcro will be annoying and get picked off.
