I'm looking for a really heavy bedspread or throw

Under £100. I'm asking for money towards it for christmas but maybe I should wait till after for the sales? Its for a double bed but I'd also like one for DD when I move her into a bed, haven't decided on a toddler bed or normal single bed yet though. Any ideas? I've looked at Laura Ashley but they are very expensive. I've got one at the moment that was from primark, its so light that it can only be used folded back at the end of the bed though, I'd like one to cover the whole bed.

IKEA have nice padded ones will look for a link

dizzydixies · 03/12/2008 13:45

here?

TK Maxx always have this kind of stuff in stock. I got a grey wool Bedeck (sic?) bedspread earlier this year, which is really lovely and it was reduced from £120 to £30.

For your daughter I would suggest checking out ebay. I bought a brand-new Laura Ashley padded bedspread which was from a past season for £10.

Oh thanks dizzydixies have you got one of those? Just wondering if they are heavy enough not to slip off the bed? Need an ikea trip anyway really, what a great price!

I was just about to suggest IKEA, mine was nowhere near £100 and is the lovely purple one in the link above but bigger and with a pinky otherside. It's fairly heavy too.

dizzydixies · 03/12/2008 13:48

the little white company have some nice things and some are on 20% off just now

Hadn't thought of ebay thanks patsy. I looked in tkmaxx but they didn't have any last week, will keep trying, I need a new rug too.

I had it in cream but the dog ruined it

the purple one is lovely and my cousin has it in the dark red too

used2bthin · 03/12/2008 13:53

Is the standard size big enough to cover the bed? I've got loads of stuff under my bed I want to hide it!

ours was the big one for a king size and if I remember it hung over the sides

the measurements should be on the page I think - sorry I can't quite remember!

used2bthin · 03/12/2008 13:55

Thik I'll have to have a day trip to ikea... I'm going to start a thread about whether to get my DD a toddler bed or standard single now in case I get to go soon.

ok before you do here's my 20p worth!!

I got dd1 the toddler bed that folds up at the top and bottom so yuo can drop the top then the bottom as they grow

I put it against the wall and a mesh bed guard on the 'open' side

was fantastic as she was in it before she turned 2 and it gave her the security she needed

DD2 is now in it as we needed the cot for DD3 and have folded it all back up for DD2 and she loves it too
