Dolls, dolls, dolls. Baby Stella - anyone's LO got one?

Hi. Having looked at zillions of dolls for my 21-mo DD for Xmas I think I've decided on Baby Stella. I thought I'd hold off on getting a hard plastic doll until DD can choose one for herself. I don't really like any of them so it's a bit difficult for me to do it. Plus the thought of a doll that requires batteries (which loads of them do it seems) makes me almost weep with longing for my 70s Tiny Tears.

Anyone got any opinions on Baby Stella? I'd really like to see one for real before I buy but I can only find them online. She looks quite cute and cuddly and there are a few outfits/accessories to buy if she's a hit with DD. Also can I put her in the washing machine?
TIA!

We have a baby stella - she is fab. We bought it for dd when I had my son - so she had her own baby. Like you I looked at lots of dolls and went for stella as she was nice a soft. I have never washed her - sure you can though

Thanks, Janx! Do you mind me asking if you went for the proper "baby" one or the one with pigtails?

we went with the baby -teh accessories are lovely ...changing bag, nappy, even a wet wipe!!

Ooh, might get that too then - DD is really into changing nappies on her teddies. At last I'm enthusiastic about buying a doll. I've even chosen an outfit for grandma to buy! Thanks very much.

Baby Stella is cute, has magnetic dummy, accessories are nice, you can change nappy, 'feed' her, etc.

If you want a plastic, more 'grown up' doll, Corolle ones are lovely and also come with nice accessories. Lots of these dolls (and others) can be found on www.bambolina.co.uk or www.dollymania.co.uk- both websites do a fab service.

We have a Baby Stella that we got for my dd when her sister was born. The magnetic bottle is great and she loves changing her nappies. We are getting the cradle here for christmas this year.

DD has Stella, she has the backpack which she loves and is very cute. She then had Annabel so you won't escape but still loves Stella.

Fab. Thanks, everyone!
Mincepie - I have to say the Corolle dolls were the only plastic ones I liked but I was put off by the fact that they are vanilla scented. Seems a bit odd and chemically to me. I could only find them online so couldn't give them a sniff to check it out.

Oh- I have just ordered a baby Stella for my dd- it will be a present from her new baby brother in January! (I got the baby one)
I love the changing set especially- as it is really like changing a real baby.
Haven't ordered the feeding set yet.... am going to wait until DS is 6mo, so we can 'wean' together!

DH and I just don't really like the plasticky dolls- I always hated mine as a child but stella is cute and cartoony, and we thought she was nicer. DD is going to be over the moon- she is doll mad, and spends many hours at nursery mummying the dollies
At home she mostly plays lego!

Have just noticed this thread and this doll looks perfect, I was going to go for either a baby annabell or baby born for my 18 month old but this looks so much nicer. Where is the best place to order from? thanks

EachPeachPearMum · 30/11/2008 20:19

I ordered from an ebay seller- though if you do a google search on baby stella uk, there are loads of independent toy sellers who have them.

thanks
