Horrible science kits.....any good?

My DS is reading the horrible science magazines/books at school and I have spotted some kits that I think he may like but want to know if they are worth buying?

Can you let me know what you think if you have bought/used one.

ds had the heart one, an eye ball one and a dinosaur one. The dinosaur one was good, he had to dig if I remember correctly, it made a right mess! The other two were not really worth the money IMO.

Ds2 really liked the one where you make a brain (bulging brains?). He still keeps it on a shelf. The information in the booklets that comes with it is a bit basic though.
