treedelivery · 24/11/2008 16:19

mini mode - the boots range. They have their own website. Really good quality imo, possibly not quite as wonderful to look at.

dinny · 24/11/2008 16:33

second hand boden

kittywise · 24/11/2008 18:34

"boden quality"?

I have NEVER come across a piece of Boden wear that wasn't terribly poor quality.

Nice styles, kooky fabrics but the quality is awful.

A real case of emperors news clothes. How JB has got away with it for this long is amazing He must be laughing all the way to the bank

singingtree · 24/11/2008 18:41

Do you mean for children? If so, I agree mini mode at Boots is quite good at the moment. Gap in the sale?

savoycabbage · 24/11/2008 18:44

I like boots for children too and they have a lot of offers on. There is a 30% off GAP code floating around somewhere today too. They don't have an internet shop though.

stressed2007 · 24/11/2008 19:52

I agree I love the Boden stuff but bought 3 pairs of their cords and they wear terribly - they faded right out in about 3 washes

dinny · 24/11/2008 19:53

everything I've had from Boden has lasted really well!

kittywise I think you must have been unlucky, unless they have got much worse lately. We have had a few boden things come through bags of hand-me-downs, and they have always been nice thick fabrics that have worn well, despite the fact that I know for certain that they have already been through three other little girls. I wouldn't buy them new because of the prices though, mad IME to spend that much on something that the chances are will get grown out of instantly in a manic growth spurt.

dinny · 24/11/2008 20:05

everything we've had I am saving for dc number three, and it's all worn really well

just wish I could find more of the same for a bit less dosh!

Just looked at the mini-mode stuff & its only up to 5 yrs. Any good recommendations for online places to get nice cheapish stuff for over 5s (6 to be exact)?

dinny · 24/11/2008 20:21

yeah, dd is 6 as well, Takvar

I actually think Next stuff is pretty good quality & value as long as you steer clear of the really brassy stuff. You know what I mean the frills & frou frou that they seem to put on quite a lot of the girls clothes.

breadandroses · 25/11/2008 11:56

ebay Boden?

Zazette · 25/11/2008 11:57

Boden quality has definitely got worse. My dd2 was wearing Boden hand-me-downs at the weekend - garments 8 years old which she is the fourth child to wear. And my niece will be wearing them too next year! They are still in great nick. OTOH, t-shirts I bought for dd1 fairly recently are not going to outlast dd2.

MorocconOil · 25/11/2008 12:03

I've recently bought DD clothes from Asda that would look at home in the Boden catalogue. I bought DD some nighties from Boden, thinking they'd be thick cotton, to find they are thin polyester. I should have read the details properly. Anyway I am happier with my Asda purchases than the recent Boden ones.

ramonaquimby · 25/11/2008 12:09

I've found minimode stuff not terribly well made. dd3 is wearing boden stuff from dd1, and have also passed some down.

gap in the sale
h&m
next (without sequins and their logo splashed across things)

stitch · 25/11/2008 12:11

boden girls stuff is fab.
try second hand boden?
