I'm thinking about getting one for Christmas. Do you love it/hate it? What's great, what's not so great. Tell me EVERYTHING!!

I have only had mine for a couple of weeks.

I like

  • MNetting in Ikea while the DC play
  • the iPod
  • email on the go
  • it looks good ;)
  • I downloaded a weightwatcher tracking thingy so that I can count points on it. (just need to start counting)
  • that I can pop in to MN to check out a thread that I have posted on without DH huffing at me being on the damned computer again. I just hide out in the bathroom for a while.

I am sure that there are more fab features that I have yet to find.

I am not so happy that I cannot send MMS, photos to other phones. I used to send pics of the DC to my mum when we were out and about and cannot now. (or perhaps I can and haven't found out yet.

Also, the push function (that you get the emails pushed from the server to the iPhone every 15 mins rather than having to pick them up) does not work, despite me changing all the setting and fiddling for ages. I suspect that this is a problem with my Yahoo account, I have read that others have probs with this.

My dp has one. He adores it. He has downloaded tons of stuff, including a thing that listens to tunes and then tells you what they are, and an ocarina that you play by blowing into the microphone!

Oh, and he can send pictures, MmeL - so maybe there's a button you haven't found yet!

love it - and huge screen for great photos

MmeLindt · 23/11/2008 16:39

seeker
Must go and search for the right button. I only go the instruction booklet in French so need to download the English version.

I love the way you turn it around and the screen turns too.

The scrolling function is fab too.

how much do they cost to run a month then as have been thinking about this too or a blackberry but dont know difference......

Pennies · 24/11/2008 14:34

seeker - what's the thing that tells you the name of the tune - I lost a couple of hours of my life trying to find that one.

seeker · 24/11/2008 14:39

I'll ask dp this evening - even though it will mean 30 minutes of wittering about how wonderful all the applications are and do I want a go on his ocarina.............

Anteater · 24/11/2008 14:41

had mine over a year
life without it would NOT be possible!
The only bits which are not fantastic are;

the size and texture make physical operation very hard unless you use a neoprine cover.. The covers do not last for ever.

Do not let the kids surf Cbeebies while enjoying romantic meal in swiss hotel, unlike the UK surfing is not FOC and you will end up with the largest phone bill you have EVER seen

Be prepaired to be dissapointed with camera

otherwise you can snigger at everyone who has not got one!

seeker · 24/11/2008 16:00

I texted him to avoid the inevitable "I love my Iphone" riff. It's called Shazam, Pennies. It's fab - but it doesn't recognize Val Doonican - we amused ourselves for several hours trying to catch it out!

I love mine - have never really been a gadgetty person, but the iPhone is wonderful. I do email a lot of photos - and use it for music. And the internet connection facility is great.

Best feature - turn it sideways on iTunes and you can flick through the album covers of all your music. It makes you look like you have a wide, interesting taste in music whereas in reality you've just downloaded the one, well-known track from the album because you're shallow like that .

SpookyMadMummy · 24/11/2008 17:06

I have had my iPhone about 6 weeks and I am learning to love it
I can stand at school waiting for the Dds and look at facebook, I downloaded a chat program so I can have MSN on the move too.
I love the scroll and the SMS messages come in a string rather than opening each individual message.
I was at a childs party and one child there who has special needs thought it was fab and played on it for ages without managing to mess anything up
Not tried the email function yet though..

I discovered how to make my own ring tones today, here is the link explaining how to do it. It is very easy.

I loved being in a pub and describing a comedy routine to someone, then realising I could show them: grab iPhone, go to YouTube, tada, here's what I was talking about.
