A friend has a VW Golf, about a 1996. It has been declined an MOT as the brake sensors do not work.

The sensors need replacing and the back plate light lamps need replacing also.

VW quoted 500 quid incl the MOT to do it all. She took it to another place, they are quoting 88 quid per sensor, and 53 quid per hour labour. They said it'll take more than an hour, but couldn't say exactly as they don't know how long it will take to get at the sensors.

Basically, is this good info, or does it sound duff. I have a vested interest as it's my car which I've loaned to her, and I will be paying the bill to help her out.

She is in St Albans, so if anyone knows a fair and honest mechanic there, perhaps you could recommend someone.

thanks
