This is my third baby. I mostly carry in a sling, but need a pushchair for sometimes. I need an umbralla folding one for storage reasons.

Previously I have had the Mamas and Papas Pulse which was great. It seems now to not be available at John Lewis or Mothercare which is where I am going tomorow (strange as I bought it at John Lewis originally!). I have a Maclaren Volo which is good , but does not recline. So, is Maclaren good generally? The Quest looks like what we need.

My mother is buying this for us tomorow and has been enticed by the Silver Cross name (looking on line). Is their pop stroller any good?

ANy thoughts? Baby is 3 months old by the way.

I have a maclaren quest that i've had for over 2 years. According to my pedometer i walk about 50 - 60 miles a month and it's still going strong! Only problem i've ever had was ds putting his foot through rain cover (but was trying that hard i'm not soprised it went!).

IlanaK · 14/11/2008 22:15

Thanks. My gut says that Maclaren are good. The Silver Cross is a little cheaper though and seems to do the same things.

Silver Cross a well known brand though so I don't think I'd worry about getting it if wanted to save a few quid! I got my maclaren when Boots were doing 20% discount.

we have a combi dash, folds up very small and light to carry, however,i wouldn't want to do mileage with it. fine for shopping and not-to-rough surfaces, and comfy for ds (he still sleeps in it now occaisionally and hes 3). i thing i paid about £60 from kiddicare, folds flat so suitable from birth.
here looks like its called something else now. comes with bag and footmuff.

IlanaK · 15/11/2008 09:16

Thanks, but it must be umbrella fold due to storage space.

Anyone else?

I would get a maclaren techno - I wish I had rather thn fighting for years with M&P and going through 4 Zikos - whatever you do don;t buy one from M&P their customer service is appalling.

That one. For sure.

It's not umbrella fold, but it folds up flat instead, it's unbelievable small. It folds SO easy as well (you pull a fabric handle on the seat and that's it)

It's really comfy for the child, has a fab hood, and seriously just buy it.

Mclaren Quest was good for us .

3girlies · 15/11/2008 10:19

Maclaren Techno if you can afford it - you can't go wrong, try the Quest if money is tight.

ClareVoiant · 15/11/2008 10:21

ah, but we got it cos it folds smaller than an umbrella fold, as it folds up and in. takes up less space in the car,and stands up by itself.

nicolamumof3 · 15/11/2008 10:29

i just sold my pop it wasn't for me. maclaren every time they last forever!

SweetApril · 15/11/2008 11:02

Hi. I am fairly tall and find the handles on the Quest are too low so might be worth trying it out first if there are to be any long-legged drivers! (I've used a Volo and think the handles are higher but not 100% sure)

Nicola - if you are there just wanted to say I'm both glad and sad you've sold your Pop! Glad for you but sad for me as I've been keeping an eye and trying to persuade DP we really needed it! But budget has been now set at £50 (bah!) and then only if I can guarantee that you can use a buggy board with it - which I keep reading you can't because of the position of the brakes.

nicolamumof3 · 15/11/2008 11:04

if you need high handles the pop or maclaren xt or xlr would be best.

oh shame, hope you manage to get a nice pushchair sweet april! X

SweetApril · 15/11/2008 11:15

Thanks, Nicola! I've decided to start a thread about the buggy board so I can maybe put the pop on my Xmas list.

moshie · 15/11/2008 15:48

Clare - I've been looking at that one online, is it easy to fold?

ClareVoiant · 15/11/2008 15:52

easy to fold, but not one handed.

moshie · 15/11/2008 15:55

thank you, thought it might be complicated because it folds so small.

Ambi · 15/11/2008 16:01

I bought this one from ebay a few months ago - it's really good, folds umbrella style and has raincover and fleece footmuff, they do cheaper ones with a normal footmuff, not fleecy. I don't buy brands if I can help it.

Ambi · 15/11/2008 16:02

Although not all that useful if you wanted to go out and buy one today

IlanaK · 15/11/2008 17:02

Thanks everyone. i Bought the Pop Silver cross today at John Lewis. I looked at the quest but it did not recline enough. The Techno was too expensive as my mum was buying for me.

I LOVED my mamas and papas pulse by the way. If John Lewis still stocked them, I would have happily bought one.
