The time has come where I am finding myself having to share my laptop with DS1.

Thinking of getting him one for Xmas, but dont have a clue what I am lookking for.

I have seen some Asur eee laptops which seem strangly cheap - is there a catch???

Also would like some childrens based software for him- again, im useless at looking for things like this. I would gratefully appreciate any help.

DS is 7 and he wants a laptop but am not getting him one yet. I don't have one! We have a family PC tith internet and have set up our old PC in his playroom but with no internet - just for games.

Am interested in recommendations for software though.

see I have a laptop (no space for PC at all) and Im constantly on mine for Uni. DS1 now gets a fair amount of hmework in which the internet is useful, hence why I want to get him his own.

Don't know much about it emma, but I mentioned one of the really cheap ones to my brother, as I was thining getting the dd's one between them and he didn't really say alot but pulled a face and said i'd be better to get a 'normal' one.

I'm not getting one at all now, as the 'normal' ones are too expensive.

I'd love to get myself a laptop tbh, because i'd then let all 3 dc use the computer on a rota basis.

tiredemma · 14/11/2008 11:10

can you get the internet on that nutty? and does it have an application for 'writing' up work then? (like a word type package??)

I think you can get the internet on them yes, and they have similar software to Word etc.

LOL i did wonder why you were asking me but just answerd anyway .

I'd never see dd1 again if she had a laptop. She's just had her first mobile and it seems like I can now only communicate with her via txt.

He is really trying to get onto my laptop at every opportunity, and I feel really bad because its not to play, its because he has a burning question about something and wants to find out about it!

That sounds good Aimsmum, god knows why my brother wasn't keen then. Probably cos he is a bit of a geek about stuff like that.
